A couple of places have opened up at Next Step Pathways

We offer one-on-one, hands-on metal fabrication and mentoring sessions for young people in Williamstown, SA.

Ash has more than 30 years’ experience in metal fabrication and works individually with each young person, tailoring projects and skills to their ability, interests and goals.

Sessions can include:

* MIG and stick welding
* measuring and marking out
* hand and power tools
* cutting, grinding and drilling
* fabrication and project work
* workshop safety
* problem solving and planning
* building confidence, independence and work skills

It’s more than just a welding lesson.

A big part of what we do is mentoring — helping young people build confidence, practical ability, work habits and a clearer idea of where they might want to head next.

Next Step Pathways can suit homeschoolers, young people who learn best through practical hands-on work, and those who may not thrive in a conventional classroom environment.

We’ve been lucky enough to see several young people who have spent time with us move on into apprenticeships, which is ultimately what we love to see.

Sessions are run one-on-one and tailored to the individual young person.

Those feels when a young person with challenges both socially and academically, shows up for his regular Welding Fabrication session, the day after his 16th birthday proudly displaying his L plates and sporting a proud smile to match 🙌😍

Update….. he kicked arse at the trial and has full time work from Monday- 3 month trial, and then onto apprenticeship!!! Next Step Pathways, is more than just a ‘welding class’!
Amazing feels after a hectic week 🙌

Our newest Next Step Pathways recruit is loving his metal fabrication and mentoring sessions….. wanted to make us something ‘as they always cook for me’. Yum 😋

We’ve been a bit quiet on here the past few months as we’ve been busy supporting some of ‘our’ young people through their Cert II in Engineering Pathways.

As a result have a newly certified (but experienced well beyond the course alone), young fabricator looking for an apprenticeship around the Barossa/Gawler area;
16years old, with a natural talent and love of welding, he has spent the last 2 years doing sessions with Next Step Pathways, bringing in a range of projects to work on, from art based to heavy duty industrial. Becoming part of the furniture here, he’d also go out on site with Ash to help out and learn the ropes, all while juggling school and other part time work.

Punctual, responsible, organised, independent, team worker, proactive, attentive, motivated… will be an amazing asset to whoever is fortunate enough to work with him.

Seeking a position, mostly workshop based, bonus points for agricultural theme.
