During Week 5 and 6, Kindy to Year 3 classes took part in a 'WasteSorted Race' Incursion. The aim was to teach our youngest students the importance of sorting our waste, while also

STEAM Festival: Today in their Science lessons, Year 4 students worked with Rostrata parent Lingyan Shan, who is an HVAC Engineer who designs heating, cooling, and ventilation systems for buildings, cars and ships.

Together with Ms Dawson, students looked at wet and dry thermometers and built air-conditioning ducts to compare the heat of the air through a long duct, compared to short duct.

STEAM Festival: Year 5 Science classes are today working with Environmental Scientist, Deborah Lin who is also mum to Samuel C3, Hazel D2, Astrid A1 and Sarah in Kindy, looking at life in the soil.

Students are searching through soil samples from the Kitchen Garden, our Worm Fam and very rich leaf litter from Mrs Lim’s garden, where they are finding different invertebrates, insects, nematodes and more.

There’s plenty of life in the soil!

STEAM Festival: VISUAL ARTS

Year 4s are embracing the Science Week theme of ‘Seeds of Science’ by exploring the beauty and diversity of seedpods through observation and simplified drawings.

Year 1s focussed on seed dispersal and movement in their drawing and painting of Dandelion seeds being dispersed through wind and air.

STEAM Festival : This week in Science, our Year 1 students were inspired by the work of marine biologists and investigated the external features of a betta fish. They identified and labelled specialised body parts such as fins, gills, scales and eyes and how each feature helps fish survive in their environment. They then created their own miniature aquarium model.

STEAM Festival: Dr Biao Sun, Senior Research Fellow from Curtin University, with a PhD in Chemical Engineering, and Dad to Wanyue from C6, today wowed our year 6's during their science classes - check out the WONDER on their FACES!

Dr Sun led the students in an experiment where they created CO2 using vinegar and bicarb soda and after lighting the candle used the CO2 gas as a fire extinguisher.

STEAM Festival - Today and tomorrow, Ms Jay from Messines Bee Farm is introducing her bees to our Kindy classes through her secure observation hive. 🐝

Jay loves to share her enthusiasm and love of bees, and her bee keeping gear, with her sustainability themed bee incursions. Our Kindy's will finished off their incursion on a sweet note by tasting the delicious honey.
