During this National Reconciliation Week, our classes will be thinking about how we might continue to strengthen respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, histories and people in line with the 2026 theme of 'All In'.

Today on NATIONAL SORRY DAY, members of our Student Representative Council planted a Native Hibiscus, the plant adopted by the National Stolen Generations Alliance, to symbolise the resilience, survival, and compassion of the Stolen Generations 💜

Students will also propagate cuttings from our Native Hibiscus, that once established, will be gifted to neighbouring schools to further share our learning and healing.

Every year on 26th May, National Sorry Day remembers and acknowledges the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, which we now know as ‘The Stolen Generations’.

Today, in the lead-up to National Reconciliation Week, we were very pleased to have Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company perform an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture theatre performance called Djinda Kaatijin 🌙✨🌟⭐️💫

In Noongar language, the word Djinda means ‘star’ and the word Kaatijin means ‘to learn’, therefore, Djinda Kaatijin means to ‘learn about stars’. Djinda Kaatijin is a celestial journey through Dreaming stories from around the world.
