✨ Clay Incursion in the Koorda Room! ✨🎨
Our little artists in the Koorda Room at Willetton Childcare had a wonderful time getting creative during our special clay incursion! 👐💛
Using air-dry clay and colourful pens, the children explored their creativity and imagination as they designed and created their very own artworks. 🌈🎨
It was beautiful to see their little hands busy shaping, decorating and bringing their ideas to life. Each creation was unique and reflected the children’s individuality and creativity. 💕✨

🐶🦴 Happy International Dog Day! 🦴🐶
International Dog Day was on Friday, so today we celebrated with a little something special for our furry friends! 🐾❤️

This week in our Cooinda Room, we continued our colour learning by exploring green through a fun sensory experience. 💚 We set up two sensory trays—one filled with green rice and the other with oats—with a little wooden bridge connecting the two. The children enjoyed moving the rice and oats with their hands, exploring the different textures, and using the animal figures to create their own little stories and adventures. Some children carefully carried the animals across the bridge, while others explored the sensory materials, filling, scooping and transferring them between the trays.
This experience was an intentional teaching opportunity to support the children’s understanding of the colour green while encouraging sensory exploration, imagination, language and fine-motor skills. Educators joined the children’s play by talking about the colour, describing the textures and modelling words such as green, soft, rough, smooth, bridge and animal. 🐸🌿 This learning links to EYLF Outcome 4 – Children are confident and involved learners, as the children explored, experimented and used their curiosity to discover through play. It also supports Outcome 5 – Children are effective communicators, as they shared ideas, used language and created their own little stories during play.

Our Koorda Room children enjoyed a wonderful visit to the library to celebrate Book Week! 📖💛
We listened to a story, explored the library and discovered how books and reading are part of real life. The children enjoyed choosing books, looking around and experiencing the library environment firsthand.
Our adventure continued at the playground, where the children had fun exploring, climbing, moving and enjoying the outdoor space. 🌿🛝

🐛🌿 The Very Hungry Caterpillar! 🦋🍎

Our Djert Room children have been enjoying The Very Hungry Caterpillar through lots of fun, hands-on experiences! From painting caterpillars, fruits and vegetables to exploring felt and pop-it story prompts, the children have been busy discovering and creating.

They also loved searching through our caterpillar sensory tray for familiar characters and pictures from the story! 🐛❤️

This week, our little scientists in the Cooinda Room explored the magic of milk! 🧪✨

Using whole milk, colourful drops of food colouring and a little dish soap, the children watched in wonder as the colours swirled, moved and danced across the plate. 🎨

This fun hands-on experiment encouraged our toddlers to observe, predict, explore and discover while enjoying the excitement of early science! 🔬💡

Our Koorda Room had so much fun reading the classic “The Gingerbread Man” and then getting creative in the kitchen! 🏃‍♂️🍪
The children enjoyed making and decorating their very own gingerbread man cookies — turning story time into a delicious hands-on learning experience! ❤️

🍲 Chicken Soup Pasta in the Koorda 🥕🍝
The children in the Koorda Room at Willettone Childcare enjoyed a wonderful cooking experience making chicken soup pasta together.
Recently, many children were not interested in eating soup at lunchtime. To encourage their curiosity, we began by discussing what they would like to include in a delicious soup. The children shared lots of wonderful ideas before visiting Woolworths to buy the fresh ingredients.
Together, the children washed, prepared, and added the ingredients, developing their cooking skills, teamwork, and confidence while learning about healthy eating.
The best part was seeing everyone enjoy the meal. Every bowl was finished, and many children proudly said, "We love soup now!" ❤️
Cooking together is a wonderful way to encourage children to try new foods, build independence, and create positive experiences around healthy eating.
