Our Book Week 2026 celebrations brought this year’s theme, Symphony of Stories, to life across the whole school community.

From author Peter Carnavas Carnavas sharing the creative spark behind his books, to First Nations storytelling traditions, a much-loved Library Book Fair with Baffies Oan Books and the Primary School Dress-Up Parade, the week was full of imagination and connection.

One of our school orchestras even brought the theme full circle, weaving music and narrative together to show how many different voices create one shared story.

Thank you to our students, staff, families, volunteers and everyone who made this year’s Book Week such a joy. And a special thank you to our Librarian Danielle, for all the effort, reminding us that every story matters, and every member of our community helps write the next chapter.

This weekend we celebrated The Spring Planting Day and Kup Murri feast.

It was a beautiful day, fuelled by our community members who gave their time to gently care for and give back to land. After the planting, we came together to celebrate with a mouth-watering Kup Murri feast which was lovingly prepared for over two weeks by Jhindu, our cultural advisor along with Jane and our Parents and Friends team, high school students and teacher volunteers.

At its core, Spring Planting Day reminded us that community days like this are about reconnection to each other, and to the care, respect and safety we bring to one another and to our land.

Thank you to Robbie, Sean, Garry and Harry for working tirelessly to prepare the grounds for the day and to the 100+ community members who joined us. We’re so grateful for the enthusiasm and participation every persons brought on the day.

Our wonderful teacher duo, Jhindu and Sam, run the Bushcraft Vertical Program in high school. The students who are part of this program were involved in every process of preparing the pit. This morning Jhindu and Sam were up with the moon to pack the food and close it to cook.

Here’s a behind the scenes of the special cooking process. The process starts with a layer of banana leaves followed by layers of food packages, topped with hot rocks and coals that have been burning overnight, followed by soaked cloth, dirt and finally, sand to trap the steam.

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at the Spring Planting Day today and are excited for community to gather for the Kup Murri!

23 students, staff and parent volunteers is what it took to prep the food for the Kup Murri at tomorrow’s Spring Planting Day.

9 staff and two community volunteers is what it took to prep the plants, structures and soil blessing for the day.

Spring Planting Day and Kup Murri, we’re ready for some fun. We look forward to being with community, giving back to land and eating together.

Spring Planting Day, Sunday 30 August, 10am-1pm

Join us as we welcome Spring, give back to the land and celebrate community together. We’ll be planting out two new spaces: a calming sensory garden for our primary students and a native edible garden for the high school.

The day will finish with a Kup Murri, an Indigenous underground cooking method, hosted by Jhindu, our high school verticals students and PAFA. Here, Jhindu explains what a Kup Murri is and why it’s important.

Please register by Friday 21 August so we can order enough food for the Kup Murri and avoid wastage:
