In week 4, a group of Year 7 students had the fantastic opportunity to travel to Adelaide and attend the Aboriginal Learner STEM Congress.

The students took part in a variety of STEM activities. They explored how Aboriginal culture, knowledge and perspectives can be connected with STEM learning.

One of the biggest highlights was meeting β€˜Dem Mob’, who are the first Aboriginal rap group to rap in Pitjantjatjara language, and having a photo with them.

It was a memorable week filled with learning, culture and plenty of inspiration! πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ

Last Tuesday, Performing Arts students attended the EP Field Days in Cleve. Instrumental Music students across the year levels performed with the greater EP concert band under the direction of Mrs Howell.

Year 9 Performing Arts students also performed 2 sets across the day, showing songs learnt in class and during lunch-time band practices.

Both groups showed our school values throughout the day and have been asked to perform again at the next EP Field Days! Congratulations to all involved! 🎢

In Science students from the 7E Crew explored the fascinating phases of the Moon through a fun, hands-on investigation using Oreo biscuits! πŸŒ™

Students recreated and explained the different phases of the Moon by carefully scraping away the cream to model each stage of the Lunar Cycle. They then used their models to demonstrate how the Moon appears to change shape as it orbits Earth, linking their observations to scientific explanations.

This engaging assessment allowed students to apply their understanding of the Moon's phases while developing their observation, communication and scientific thinking skills. πŸŒ•πŸŒ‘
