We were delighted to welcome Scott Darlow back to Sunrise Whyalla for another amazing day filled with music, storytelling, and inspiration. 🎶

Scott Darlow, an Aboriginal Australian Christian singer-songwriter, didgeridoo player, educator, and public speaker from Yorta Yorta country, shared his rich culture, heritage, and stories with our students through the magic of music. 🎸🪘✨

His distinctive fusion of Indigenous sounds with rock and pop, all woven together with messages of hope, unity, forgiveness, and reconciliation, created a truly unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

Book Week Dress-Up Day was full of joy and excitement, with Scott embracing the spirit of the occasion! 📚🎭 It was wonderful to see our students enjoying the festivities and celebrating their creativity together. ✨

In Grade 1, our students have been learning about procedure texts, learning how clear instructions can guide us step by step in making or doing something.

They put their knowledge into practice by writing a procedure for making the perfect milkshake! The students carefully pinpointed the ingredients and materials needed and worked through the method, paying close attention to the importance of following the correct order and providing clear instructions.

The highlight of the experience was testing their writing skills in practice!🥛🍓 The students followed their own procedures to whip up their very own milkshakes. Not only did they relish a delicious treat, but they also witnessed how the writing skills they are honing can be applied in a fun, real-life scenario.

And the result? They were absolutely DELICIOUS! 😋

The Grade 9/10 students took to the courts at the Whyalla Recreation Centre for a badminton session! 🏸 The atmosphere was full of energy and it was good to see everyone showcase their skills and raw talent in a spirit of friendly competition.

One standout moment was when students had the opportunity to give each other feedback, focusing on strengths and areas for improvement. 🌟
Learning to both give and receive constructive feedback is an important skill that extends well beyond the sporting court. It encourages students to reflect on their performance, communicate respectfully, support one another and develop a growth mindset.

Students at Sunrise Whyalla middle school recently spent two exciting days in science week workshops, exploring the dynamic intersection of science, technology, creativity, and ethics.

Guided by academics from various Australian universities, students attended lectures and hands-on activities to explore how AI and STEM are shaping the world around us. 🔬💡

Through the "Time for Tech" program, they discovered how technology can spark innovative solutions to sustainability and climate challenges, improve the management of land, water, and food systems, and create career paths dedicated to protecting our planet and its people.

It was inspiring to see our students ask questions, think critically, unleash their creativity and tackle the ideas that will shape our future! 🌱🚀

The students at Sunrise Whyalla had a wonderful opportunity to experience the Watoto Children’s Choir as they shared their music, vibrant dancing, and a heartfelt message of hope and the love of Jesus.

It was a joy to see our students engaged and excited as the Watoto team shared inspiring stories, bringing the rich sounds of Africa into our community. 🌎

The Watoto Children’s Choir tours from Uganda around the globe, sharing personal stories of hope and worship while helping audiences witness the transformative power of God’s love.

We are incredibly thankful that our students were able to enjoy such a joyful and meaningful performance, one that reminded us of the profound impact of music, faith, hope and the importance of sharing our stories. 💙💛
