The real reason I don’t post much on this page is due to the keyboard warriors! As I’ve said before if you can do better, bloody DO IT!! I’ve done the damn training and spent massive of amounts of money to do it. I speak to the departments and wildlife carers etc about release points. So if you can “do it” from your keyboard- go fkn do it in real life and help a person out!!

Soooo it’s been awhile since I posted last.. it’s been a quieter season for me as I’ve tried to steer clear of catching apart from around my local area. BUT this morning’s catch was unreal and unbelievable…..

Great tips to remember…… unfortunately it does happen so be educated and aware

This cutie is Lulu a young Border Collie that presented to us after she was seen to be very drooly at home and then had sudden weakness in her back end. We worked her up for a possible snake bite as these can present like that. Luckily her blood parameters were fine in that regard, but it is a good reminder to ensure everyone is aware that snake season has started. Snake bites are serious and need to be seen to as soon as possible.
Initial signs to watch out for in dogs especially -
- sudden collapse (sometimes they seem to recover from that very fast but they will collapse again if they don’t get treated)
- being flat and lethargic
- drooling/hypersalivation
- dilated pupils
These symptoms can progress to them being unable to move, going into respiratory distress and possibly dying. The anti-venom can be life saving and the sooner we get them treated the higher the chance of a full recovery.
If you are concerned at all please contact the clinic, sometimes a simple blood test like what we did for Lulu can help rule it out. 😊
