This week across our centres, we’re proud to acknowledge and celebrate National Reconciliation Week, a meaningful time to learn, reflect and strengthen our connection to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and perspectives.

Throughout the week, our children and educators will be engaging in thoughtful learning experiences designed to spark curiosity, deepen understanding and foster respect for the world’s oldest continuing cultures. From storytelling and creative experiences to music & dance, language and shared conversations, we’re excited to create opportunities for meaningful learning and connection together.

We can’t wait to share what’s planned across our centres this week and celebrate these important moments with our community.

The children in our Toddlers & Kindy Rooms continue to show a strong interest in the little motorbike frogs that have made a home in our garden. During this ongoing inquiry project, we have learnt all about the lifecycle of frogs and have researched some of their varied habitats. We then placed this learning in to a different context as we got busy building our own 'home for the frogs'. What clever little biologists! 🐸

As the weather in our little neck of the woods continues to cycle on towards winter, the children in our Babies Room have been finding much delight in the abundance of autumn leaves that are falling from the nearby trees. Care for a bowl of leaf and bubble soup? 🍂

Our Earth Day inspired project is complete! The little eco-warriors in our Toddlers and Kindy rooms have been busy making papier mache seed bombs from recycled materials, and they are now proudly displayed ready to be taken home and planted.

The children in our Toddler room have continued on with their quest to explore all of the sensory aspects that can be found in the humble playdough. We helped our Educator to mix up a big batch of bright green dough, placed it on to the ground, then stomp, stomp, STOMPED! on it to squish it out flat. What a soft and squidgy delight!

The children in our Kindy room have been given the opportunity to take artistic inspiration from nature within this beautiful creative experience. We took a close look at some blooming sunflowers and spent time discussing all of the colours that we could see on the plants, from the bottom of the stem to the very tips of the petals. We then mixed up colourful paint to recreate these very shades to use on our project! I wonder what we are making?

The children in our Toddler room have been scouring the service for scrap paper so that they can embark upon a papier mache making project, while learning about environmental sustainability! We found some shredded paper in the office, some paper shopping bags in the kitchen, some old coloured drawing paper in the nursery and we even ripped up some old displays that had been taken down in the Toddler room. Ooh I just can't wait to find out what they will be making, how exciting!

The children in our Kindy room decided to make some play dough this week, and we all know that play dough provides us with wonderful opportunities for multi-sensory play! We picked and added fragrant herbs fresh from our garden, some lovely vibrant colours, and even popped the playdough in to the freezer to experiment with temperature!
