It’s never a dull week here at WMPS! 💙💛
Last week was no exception, with plenty of celebrating, learning and farewelling…

We started the week by welcoming back our friends from Guardian Childcare Nexus, who joined us for a gardening session in our SAKG area. They got their hands messy with some worms, planted some rosemary and then had a big play on the playground, before settling in for story time in our beautiful library space. 🌱📚

Throughout the week in PE, our students clocked up plenty of jumping time for Jump Rope Australia. It’s been awesome to see everyone get behind such a great cause! ♥️

Friday was the real M.V.P. of the week though, with our annual Little Day Out! 🌳

Our Seniors started their day with a walk to MCC for a lawn bowls session, before continuing on to Waverley Park to enjoy the playground, sunshine and some time together. 🎳☀️

After celebrating 100 Days of School (post to come! 👀), our Preps and Juniors also made the short walk to Waverley Park, where they joined the rest of the school community for a whole-school sausage sizzle and plenty of play! 🌭

And if that wasn’t enough, we farewelled the first of our international short-term students, presenting them with certificates of completion, lots of laughs… and even a few push-ups! 💪🌏

Phew! What a week! 😂💙💛

A Whole School Adventure - Melbourne Zoo!

Today our students enjoyed the most stunning day exploring Melbourne Zoo! The weather certainly smiled on us, with the sun making a welcome appearance and creating the perfect backdrop for a day of adventure.

From watching playful primates and falling for the cute snow leopards, our students were immersed in hands-on learning about wildlife, habitats and conservation.

Beyond the amazing animal encounters, it was a wonderful opportunity for students across the whole school to learn, laugh and create lasting memories together.

A huge thank you to our dedicated teaching staff, ES crew and the awesome team at Melbourne Zoo for helping make the day such a success.

📸 We can’t wait to share some of our favourite moments with you!

Growing more than just plants at Waverley Meadows Primary School..

Last week, our students proudly celebrated National Schools Tree Day by getting their hands dirty and making a lasting difference to our school environment.

Every student planted a tree, shrub or groundcover somewhere around our school, helping create a greener, more vibrant space for our entire community to enjoy. At Waverley Meadows, we believe the best learning happens when children are actively involved in caring for the world around them!

A special thank you to Cr Shane McCluskey, who joined our Year 3/4 students as they helped move over 2 square metres of fresh soil and compost to establish our new Pollinator Corridor. This exciting project will provide an important habitat for bees, butterflies and other native pollinators while becoming a valuable outdoor learning space for years to come.

Each student also took home an ‘Adopt a Plant’ Certificate, sharing what they planted and how to care for it. We hope this sparks conversations at home and inspires our young gardeners to watch their plants flourish.

At Waverley Meadows, we’re proud to nurture curious minds, caring hearts and a strong sense of environmental responsibility.

💙💛 To learn is to grow.

🌏 A Warm Waverley Meadows Welcome! 🌏

The beginning of Term 3 has been an exciting one at Waverley Meadows Primary School as we’ve welcomed short-term international students from the United States and China, with more students joining us over the coming weeks and months.

These visits provide a wonderful opportunity for our students to build new friendships, learn about different cultures and share what makes our school—and Australia—so special!

Whether they’re working together in the classroom, playing games at recess or exploring our beautiful school grounds, it’s been wonderful to see connections forming so naturally.

At Waverley Meadows, we believe some of the best learning happens through shared experiences, curiosity and kindness. We’re proud to provide opportunities that help our students become confident, respectful and globally minded young people.

To all of our new students and their families… welcome to the Waverley Meadows community! 💙💛

If you’re thinking about Prep 2027 or beyond, we’d love to show you around our wonderful school. We invite prospective families to book a personalised tour and discover what makes Waverley Meadows such a special place to learn, grow and belong.

This afternoon the year 3/4’s had their Cereal Box Showcase. After several weeks of hard work students got to show off the latest cereal creations which included three parts:
1. Students conceptualised their cereal and then created a cereal box, linking in ways companies market their cereals.
2. A persuasive writing piece with three reasons why you should buy their cereal.
3. A poster ready for a billboard display to convince you to buy the cereal.

A big thank you to the parents who came through and the Year 5 and 6 classes who also came and had a look!
