Morning tea is around 11:30am. There are also working bees on the second Wednesday of every month, though these typically don't include morning tea and have a lower attendance (maybe good if you're a first timer?)
Everyone is very friendly and relaxed. Please feel free to walk around the gardens and chat to the volunteers - we'd rather see you enjoying the gardens than to feel pressured into main
taining them. The gardens are free, open all the time, and can be accessed by several entrances. There are no toilets or water fountains at this time, however there is almost always something flowering in the gardens, and the bower birds and lovely to listen to in their hiding spot in the 'Secret Garden'. Brochures are available near the entrances to the gardens. Fetherston Gardens was established in 1974 as part of the CIT School of Horticulture. The school has now moved to Bruce but the gardens are still going strong! After extensive restorative work by volunteers over the past few years, the gardens opened to the public in October 2013. The gardens, named after the first and longest serving Head of the Horticultural College, Tony Fetherston, contain a well-established arboretum, a woodlands garden, and a secret garden.
