Staff from The Hospital School have had the chance to engage with Infection Control training to brush up on hand hygiene and how to correctly wipe students equipment to not only protect our students but also ourselves! Building such capabilities is vital in our ongoing commitment to student care and workplace safety, and we look forward to continuing these important professional learning opportunities in the future.

Our primary students have continued to explore the alphabet through a creative lens to help Cate with her A-Z workshop exhibition! They have been set the challenge of thinking of the letters of the alphabet as animals, objects and concepts that spark their imagination.

It's been wonderful to see their ideas come to life in such vibrant and inventive ways. We can't wait to share their fantastic work with everyone soon! 🖌

Recently, Lynn took some time to reflect on her experiences in this unique teaching environment. It's always wonderful to gain insight into the daily lives of our staff, especially in a setting where no two days are ever the same. 👩‍🏫💙

Rhythm Village is back at The Hospital School this term! 🌟🎶

Our students continued to enjoy this hands-on experience led by expert musicians, diving into the world of sound waves and sharpening their beats skills with drums. These engaging sessions not only introduce a variety of musical styles but also encourage creativity and support students’ emotional well-being while in hospital.

We can’t wait to share more of the incredible music our students create throughout the year—stay tuned!

Once a term, all our students participate in Digi Ed, a Claymation movie-making workshop. We are continuing to take Digi Ed to the next level and tying it in with a number of other projects over the year like our 2027 calendar! 💫

As always, each student engaged at a level tailored to their individual learning stage, working on the first steps of our movie. They explored different ways to craft characters, take photos, and blend images to build scenes. 🎥.

With many of our students unable to explore this subject out in the community, Digi Ed provides an interactive and immersive learning experience, meeting them exactly where they are.

It is always exciting and a great pleasure to welcome special guests who engage with our students and staff. Joshua took the time to share his journey to becoming a two-time Judoka Olympian, including the challenges and milestones he has reached, such as winning bronze at the Commonwealth Games!

Joshua also spoke about resilience and the importance of goal setting, highlighting how these qualities have helped him overcome obstacles and achieve his dreams.

Hearing Joshua’s story and his insights was truly inspiring for our students and staff. 🤩

An important part of The Hospital School is the families we meet along the way. Madeline has been reflecting on the support provided to her family by The Hospital School, and how it has made a difference during challenging times. 💫

We have had the pleasure of welcoming Cate James, award-winning illustrator and printmaker to The Hospital School for her first workshop to create art for the A-Z Exhibition with The Children’s Hospital at Westmead! Our primary students put their creative hats on and got straight into working with Cate through this hands-on experience. 🎨

Workshop 2 with Freda was another great success! 🎨

Our students are continuing to work alongside Freda Chiu as they create the 2027 calendar. Creativity is flying through the classroom, and students are truly connecting with this year’s theme: Big Hearts, Brave Stories. Through this project, they are not only expressing their artistic talents but also exploring meaningful narratives of courage, kindness, and resilience.
