Lake Cowal Conservation Centre (LCCC) The Lake Cowal Conservation Centre provides environmental learning opportunities around the Lake Cowal area for community and school groups.

The Lake Cowal Conservation Centre (LCCC) was officially opened on the 2nd of November 2007 by project partners, the Lake Cowal Foundation (LCF), Evolution Cowal Gold Operations, West Wyalong High School and the Local Lands Services (LLS). With the support of the Department of Education and Training, the LCCC was established to provide the local community with a unique environmental learning centr

e. Situated on a Evolution Cowal Gold Operations owned property known as “Hillgrove”, the LCCC is about 30 minutes north of West Wyalong and five minutes from Lake Cowal and the Cowal Gold Mine.
“Hillgrove” is an ideal site for the Centre and caters for a wide sector of the community by providing a practical learning environment where detailed studies can be undertaken. The site is easily accessible by buses and has a modern barn that has been fitted out with multi-media technology and other equipment to meet the training needs of a variety of groups. The surrounding working property and remnant bushland provide the perfect location for a range of curriculum linked environmental education learning programs including revegetation, ecological sampling, bushwalking, water monitoring, plant and animal identification, painting/drawing and orienteering. Students work in small mixed groups for the activities, assisted by their accompanying teachers and LCCC Educational Officers. The LCCC is also investigating new ways to work with schools to establish innovative education programs to suit the curriculum needs of individual schools.
