Pauline Hanson and One Nation have declared a war on 'woke' curriculum in their federal education policy.

This insinuation is ignorant and shows a complete lack of knowledge about the Australian education system and the role of teachers.

Teachers won’t stand for a political party that insults and disrespects their work.

This annual conference brings together women from across the Australian Education Union to hear from inspiring guest speakers, engage with key professional and industrial issues and build strong networks within the education community nationwide. It is a valuable professional and union development opportunity for women in all sectors.

𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀

Teachers need high-quality learning environments that complement the high-quality teaching they are delivering.

But for years, funding for public school buildings hasn’t kept pace with demand.

That’s why the AEU is running the 𝘚𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭𝘴 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 inquiry - to understand exactly what is required to ensure every child in Australia has access to future-ready public schools.

This week, the AEU are launching a massive Week of Action (bit.ly/4uBy9HW), and they need your voice. If you haven't taken part in the inquiry yet, this week is the perfect time to get involved.

The AEU have a different action lined up every day this week. Whether you have two minutes to test your knowledge, or want to join a collective writing session, you can choose the action that best fits your schedule:

Solidarity was the message of Zelda D’Aprano when she chained herself to the Commonwealth Building in Melbourne in 1969: No more male and female rates, one rate only.

A union organiser for the Australasian Meat Industry Employees Union, D’Aprano was protesting the lack of recognition for female-dominated industries in the equal pay for equal work legislation.

“There was just sufficient chain to allow the door to open slightly, and people had to bend down and crawl in sideways to enter the building. This was so undignified for the ‘important’ people.”

D’Aprano went on to create a Women’s Action Committee representing women across the union movement, and in 1972 when the equal pay case was reheard, the Commissioner ruled that there must be “equal pay for work of equal value”. This was a massive win for working Australian women.
