The Australian Institute of Conveyancers (AIC) proudly announces the appointment of Michelle Hendry as President and Fran Andrews as Vice President, effective October 2023.

Additionally, Michelle Kent has been appointed Policy & Advocacy Officer.

These appointments mark a significant milestone for the AIC as it continues to uphold its’ mission of excellence and advocacy within the conveyancing profession.

With a wealth of experience in the industry, Michelle Hendry brings strategic vision and leadership to her role as President. With prior roles as Vice President of AIC and President of the South Australian Division, Michelle is dedicated to advancing the interests of conveyancers across Australia and ensuring the highest standards of professionalism.

Fran Andrews, assuming the role of Vice President, brings over 30 years of conveyancing experience. Fran owned a Settlement Agency in Perth from 2014 to 2023 and served as President of the Western Australian Division of AIC for 5 years. During her tenure, Fran maintained the role of National representative for her State until her departure in October 2023. She looks forward to continuing her service to the profession in her new role.

Michelle Kent, the newly appointed Policy & Advocacy Officer, brings extensive experience in conveyancing and property law. She is passionate about advocating for the profession and has served on not-for-profit boards since 2012 including her previous role as President of AIC. Michelle is eager to continue to contribute to the important work of AIC.

In their respective roles, Michelle Hendry, Fran Andrews and Michelle Kent will work collaboratively with the AIC Board, staff and stakeholders to advance the conveyancing profession as well as advocate for conveyancers’ interests nationwide.

“We are thrilled to welcome Michelle Hendry, Fran Andrews and Michelle Kent to their new roles within the Australian Institute of Conveyancers,” said Matthew Kelly, Director of AIC, and President of the South Australian Division. “Their expertise, dedication, and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to champion the interests of conveyancers and elevate the profession.”

It was an honour to award one of our profession’s finest, dedicated & experienced Conveyancers Helen Kent with Fellowship of the Australian Institute of Conveyancers recently at the AICTas Forum in Hobart.

The criteria for the granting of fellowship is a person that has served the profession of conveyancing with distinction; has made a substantial contribution to the advancement of the profession or the development and dissemination of conveyancing knowledge; the preparation and delivery of significant papers to conventions or Conveyancing Australia or other professional journals or otherwise has been involved in communicating ideas to the profession or in any other way to have gained the respect of peers for work for the advancement of the profession.
2. Has achieved a high level of general knowledge of conveyancing.
3. Has demonstrated substantial managerial or professional ability.
4. Has made a significant personal contribution over a reasonable period to the profession of conveyancing through serving on a Divisional Council or the National Council.

Thank you Helen for your contribution to State & National Councils and for your ongoing commitment to the betterment of the Conveyancing profession.

Last weekend the AIC National Council & CEO’s met in Perth to discuss the revised timetable for implementation of interoperability together with other national objectives & intiatives.
Gratitude & thanks to AIC WA for their hospitality during their very own State conference. It was wonderful to see old & new faces & enjoy quality time networking and collaborating with fellow colleagues.
