๐ŸŒโœจ Celebrating Languages at the South Australian Multicultural Festival! โœจ๐ŸŒ
Today we had the absolute pleasure of representing Community Language Schools SA (CLSSA) at the Multicultural Festival โ€” and what an amazing day it was!
Our stall, โ€œHow the World Sounds,โ€ was filled with colour, music, laughter, and connections. ๐Ÿ’ฌ๐ŸŽถ Families and children explored different stations, listened to languages from around the world, played cultural matching games, and discovered how language brings communities together.
A huge thank you to all visitors who stopped by, took part in the activities, and shared their stories with us. Your energy truly made the day special. โค๏ธ
๐ŸŒŸ Why we do this:
At CLSSA, we believe languages are the bridges that keep heritage, identity, and community strong. Events like this remind us of the power of multiculturalism in South Australia and of how important it is to support children to maintain and celebrate their language.
๐Ÿ“ธ Here are some highlights from our day!

Thank you for celebrating with us โ€” see you next year! ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿค

Community Language Schools of SA held its Intercultural Leadership Summit 2025 on Saturday 20th September where over 90 community leaders attended workshops that equipped them in the areas of leadership, governance, tools and frameworks that they can use in their community schools and build stronger networks of peers to call on for advice and support.

CLSSA had the honour of the Premier of South Australia Peter Malinauskas, the Hon Zoe Bettison MP and Professor Alwyn Louw, Vice-Chancellor and President of Torrens University Launching our Intercultural Leadership Summit. Their presence demonstrated their strong commitment to supporting our multicultural communities.

We were priveleged to have exceptional speakers from Volunteers SA/NT, Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation, Multicultural Communities Council of SA (MCCSA), Janet Loven and The Australian Centre for Social Innovation (TACSI) who shared their expertise and insights with our community leaders.๏ธ

A special thank you to Torrens University Australia for not only their ongoing support but also for providing us with an outstanding venue and their gracious staff who helped make this event possible. Our keynote speaker Dr Sudarshan Subedi from Torrens University delivered an inspiring presentation, along with Irene Rowe who contributed to the day's success.

We are thrilled to congratulate the winners of our 2025 Leadership award: Maria Barrientos, Manoher Saroush, Raniah Daou and Irene Rowe for being exceptional with the community language school sector.

We would also like to thank the SA Government for their commitment in supporting our community language sector assisting us in serving our community schools across SA.

CLSSA continues to engage, collaborate and partner with many stakeholders so that our community language schools can thrive and grow. Thank you to everyone who made this historic Summit possible!

๐ŸŒ๐ŸŽ‰ An amazing day at the 2024 Multicultural Festival! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŒ

We had so much fun connecting with the community at our engagement tent on Sunday! ๐ŸŽ People tested their knowledge in a Kahoot quiz about the top five languages taught in Community Language Schools โ€“ and won prizes! Did you know Arabic has over 50 words for "camel"? ๐Ÿชโœจ

The excitement didnโ€™t stop there! On the big stage, we were thrilled to have three Community Language Schools represent CLSSA in a group performance. ๐ŸŽค๐Ÿ’ƒ A huge thank you to BANGLA SCHOOL ADELAIDE, Australian Druze Arabic School, Australia Tamil School for bringing incredible energy and talent. The crowd loved every moment! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐ŸŽถ

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello and joined the fun, and congratulations to all the communities involved in making the day unforgettable. Itโ€™s always a joy to celebrate the diversity of Multicultural South Australia. ๐ŸŽŠ

๐ŸŽ‰Congratulations and thank you ๐ŸŒŸ

This week CLSSA are saying goodbye to our amazing placement students from and marketing intern from Multicultural Communities Council of SA.

CLSSA made the commitment to provide this service to Bachelor of Community Services and first year Bachelor of Counselling students from Torrens University and interns from MCCSAโ€™s Building Employer Confidence and Inclusion in Disability (BEC) project.

While we aim to give them unique experiences and teach them as much as possible in 12 weeks about the Community Language School sector, CLSSA inadvertently find ourselves learning from the wealth of knowledge these individuals already carry.

Weโ€™re proud to have been part of their journey and wish them all the best in their bright futures ๐ŸŒŸ

Starting Saturday mornings in Term 1 of 2025, an Italian language and culture program will run as a series of two-hour classes and we hope parents will also use this opportunity to meet and connect over a coffee โ˜•๏ธ while the classes are held.

The first of its kind for the Italian Community the Italian Language Experience Program will be offered through The South Australian Italian Association with the support of Community Language Schools SA (CLSSA).
