I love coming up with different strategies to teach students who struggle to grasp concepts, but sometimes the good old “rote learning” is what is needed to get a solid understanding of the basics.

A concerning article, especially regarding primary school teachers not feeling confident to teach maths and maths not being timetabled in (prioritised).

🎓 A Proud Tutoring Moment 🎓

Today, I’m overwhelmed with pride and emotion as I celebrate an incredible achievement with one of my students—she has passed her Year 12 maths course!

This was no easy journey. She has dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia—challenges that made maths feel like an impossible mountain to climb. But with her unwavering determination and the right support, she’s overcome every hurdle in her path.

Because she passed her maths course, she now has an ATAR, opening the door for her to go to university and pursue her dreams. This milestone is life-changing, and I couldn’t be prouder to have been part of her journey.

To my student: Your courage, perseverance, and belief in yourself inspire me so much. You’ve proven that with hard work, anything is possible. 💜💙

Moments like these remind me why I love what I do—helping students break barriers, achieve their goals, and step confidently into their future.
