We are looking for a chef / cook to join our team on a Friday. Initially the position will be 2 days per week under the guidance of chef Pete and then Fridays plus other days if required. Please see below job advertisement. We would love someone from our community to join our team.
Jarjum Bugal Nah Child and Family Centre are seeking an Experienced Childcare Chef/Cook to be part of our Early Learning Centre in Ballina. The successful applicants will work for Jarjum Bugal nah Child and Family Centre who holds a rating Assessment of Exceeding National Quality Standards. Jarjum Bugal Nah Child and Family Centre is an exceptional Early Learning Centre that caters for 59 children per day.
We are seeking an experienced Chef/Cook who is passionate about preparing fresh and wholesome meals for children in our new purpose built and fully equipped commercial kitchen. This is a part time role, working Friday between 8.30am and 4.00pm for 50 weeks per year. Extra days as required.
The successful applicant will have or be willing to obtain:
• Hold a current working with children check
• Have a Food safety Supervisor certificate
• Have a certificate in Menu planning and Nutrition
• Have experience and passion for cooking and presenting a wide variety of nutritious foods that are suitable for children aged 6 weeks to 8 years
• Have completed relevant vocational qualifications in commercial cookery, current working with children check, food handling safety certificate and have experience working in a childcare kitchen environment is an advantage but not necessary
• Be experienced in developing a rotating menu for children, including children with allergies and intolerances.
• Be a reliable, positive, passionate and well organised person
• Work in a Team environment
• Have good time management skills and be confident managing a kitchen
• Enjoy working with families, colleagues and children
You will be responsible for:
• Preparing for a nutritious and on time morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea for babies and children each day, including the preparation of purees and special diet meals
• Menu planning, in accordance with the centre's nutrition policy and guidelines
• Maintain a clean and safe kitchen, in accordance with NSW Food and Council Authority requirements.
