What a successful Wear it Purple Day for WCC!
Last week our Community Hub market was a huge success, raising more than double what we raised last year for Wear it Purple! Thank you to our students, staff and families who created and contributed handmade items, and to everyone who supported the market. A special thank you to our Parent Sewing Class, who made an incredible items for the market and played a huge part in its success. And, most of all, thank you to our Rainbow Group students for all their work creating things throughout the year.
Wear It Purple Day is an important opportunity to celebrate LGBTQIA+ young people and reinforce that everyone deserves to feel safe, supported, included and proud to be themselves.
A huge shoutout to alumni Felix and Alex for their support and for helping us celebrate the importance of visibility, belonging and community.
It was a wonderful day of learning, connection and showing our students that they belong, they are valued and they are supported.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT

Congratulations to Max, whose artwork has been selected for the Woods Street Arts Space Youth Art Shortlist Exhibition 2026.

Being selected for this exhibition is a significant milestone for Max and a wonderful recognition of his creativity, artistic skill and dedication to his practice. It also marks an exciting opportunity for his work to be exhibited and celebrated beyond our school community.

But Max’s contribution to our school extends well beyond his art. Throughout his final year, Max has also made an outstanding contribution to our school through his leadership, cultural involvement, support for others and commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive community. He consistently leads with empathy, creativity and genuine care for those around him, making a positive impact both in and out of the classroom.

He’s a talented artist, thoughtful leader and valued member of our school community. We can’t wait to see where your talents take you next!

Night at the Museum 2026

Tuesday night was a showcase and celebration of the fantastic work of our Year 7 and 8 students.

Students created their own museum exhibits based on topics they have explored in Humanities throughout the year. Year 7 exhibits explored Ancient Civilisations, Water in the World, Landscapes and Landforms, and Civics and Citizenship, while Year 8 students showcased their learning about Medieval Europe, Japan, Business and Economics, and Changing Nations and Liveability.

It was fantastic to see our students share their knowledge, creativity and learning with our community. Thank you to everyone who came along to support them. Shoutout to Ms. Woloszczenko and the humanies faculty for supporting our students learning.

Yesterday our VM students ran a Walk-a-Thon as part of their community project, raising funds for Little Steps, Big Hugs, a charity that supports children and families experiencing challenging circumstances.

Students walked laps throughout the session, receiving a bead for each lap they completed. They then used their beads to make their own bracelets.

Thank you to our VM students for organising the event and getting the school community involved. A huge shoutout to Ms. Papillon and Mr. Brown for supporting our students.

A reminder that the charity clothing drive is also coming up on Tuesday 15 September, running alongside Parent, Teacher and Student Interviews. If you are attending interviews, consider bringing along new or excellent-condition items to donate to local families in need.

Book Week 2026!

It was a full week of activities, celebrating books, reading and the stories that bring our school community together. From creative activities to special events, there was plenty happening across the week.

Please join us for the Humanities showcase; a ‘Night at the Museum’ showcases and celebrates the work of students in humanities in years 7 and 8. The Year 7 students will present a museum exhibit of a topic studied in humanities which could be on Ancient Civilisations (Australia or Rome), Water in the World, Landscapes and Landforms or on civics and citizenship. The Year 8 students will have exhibits linked to Medieval Europe, Japan (600-1750), business and economics and about changing nations and liveability.

You are invited to join us on Tuesday 1th September from 3:30 – 5:30pm in the gymnasium to experience our very own ‘Night at the Museum’, and vote for the exhibit that is best on show.

Book Week got off to a fantastic start! Staff and a tudents brought their favourite characters to life for our Dress Up Day, with some very creative costumes on show.
A big thank you to Mrs Cutter and Ms Bath for helping make the day such a great celebration of reading and books.
