Learning, playing, and growing together on Wadawurrung Country 🖤💛♥️ Jo
During National Reconciliation Week, we reflected on how we can continue to strengthen Aboriginal perspectives throughout our everyday program.
As a result, we have introduced possum skins into each learning environment, providing opportunities for children to engage in nurturing play, storytelling, and conversations about culture, Country, and traditional ways of caring.
We are continuing to strengthen children’s connections to Country by embedding learning experiences that reflect the Aboriginal Nations and communities our families belong to and connect with. Through resources from Yorta Yorta Country, language learning from Wadawurrung Country, and stories and artworks from Aboriginal communities across Australia, we are creating meaningful opportunities for children to see their identities, cultures, and histories represented within our program.
Reconciliation is an ongoing journey, and we are committed to continuing to learn, reflect, and grow together. 🫶🏻

We’re here, there and everywhere!
This week our mini footy kinder sessions have been running so well, and our Friday group was the first to see our new sign on the Wyndhamvale Football Club oval!
The children saw it before we did, shouting “look it’s Journey!”
They were so excited to see a little piece of us represented in our community, alongside other sponsors. Such a beautiful moment highlighting a wonderful partnership!

Footy Kinder is well underway!
Our fortnightly Footy Kinder Sessions with Wyndham Vale Football club have been absolutely phenomenal. The children in the program have been so excited to get on the Journey Bus and get kicking!
These sessions wonderfully highlight skills across our Kinder + developmental domains. Physical; They're exploring gross motor, hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness. Cognitive; crossing the midline is a crucial skill in reading and writing development. Social; learning social collaboration and sportsmanship supports empathy, and Emotional; body movement supports emotional regulation, endorphin release and nervous system calibration, priming their brains and bodies for more learning!

Dancing, Laughing, Learning; Together 🫶🏻♥️
Every week our children and educators take part in body movement experiences through incursions with Little Sports Heroes and Magical Days Kindy Dancing.
Having educators engage in these experiences with the children not only supports feelings of safety, security and belonging, but also supports educator mental and physical health as well. Whole body movement is one of the most regulating experiences for nervous systems of all ages.
Our educators remind us everyday, you’re never too old to dance, play or rock a purple participation stamp! 🏉💃🏼

Recently Julia and Tiarah were invited for a dinner at the Wyndhamvale Football Club (prepared by mutual chef Leonie!)
Steve and Peter presented us with a sponsor appreciation award, after discussing our very exciting footy kinder program in partnership with the football club.
We cannot wait to continue exploring our sponsorship with the football club, and to see what our future holds in supporting community connections with children and families! 🏉♥️

Reflections and upgrades galore! 😍
In highlighting mental health awareness week, we are focusing on educator mental health. One of the changes we are making is turning our staff room into an educator retreat.
With the help of our Journey Standards Book, Centre resource guide, and Journey’s Educator collection, our new Educational Leader Megan and Centre Manager Tiarah sat down with one of our educators Brooke who has worked across multiple Journey centres. They collaboratively reflected on our current space, and using our Journey Resources, came up with innovative ideas to ensure our educator spaces support the team to regulate, reconnect.
We cannot wait for what’s to come! Stay tuned 👀
