Free Eye Check For 4-year old’s
Dear families,
We are having a visit from Steps on Tuesday 18th June 2019
The Steps program is an initiative of NSW Health and offers all 4 years old children free vision screening. NSW Health advises all children to have their vision screened before they start school. They recommend that all four year old children take part in Steps.
The program identifies childhood vision problems early, before children start school. This means early treatment for the best possible outcomes.
Why test children’s eyes?
Children rarely complain of symptoms related to their eyes and may not realise they cannot see well. Parents, carers and or health professionals cannot detect the two most common childhood vision problems, amblyopia and refractive error, simply by observing a child’s behaviour or appearance. These common childhood vision problems can only be detected if a monocular visual acuity assessment is conducted by a trained vision screener.
Please complete the consent form and return it on or before (ideally before so that we know numbers of children) Tuesday 18th June 2019
Thank you
Free Dental Check
Dear families,
We are having a visit from Sydney Dental Services TOMORROW Tuesday 21st May 2019 from 9:30am
This is a Government funded (Medicare) mobile dental service by accredited Dentists.
The Child Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is administered by the Department of Human Services under Medicare. The total benefit entitlement is capped at $1,000 per child over a two-year calendar period. The CDBS is means-tested and as such the household of the child must be in receipt of Family Tax Benefit A or a relevant Australian Government payment.
For eligible students, this service is free of charge.
If a child is not eligible under the CDBS we offer a free examination. If the parents require a full clean for their child, the following preventative treatment can be performed for $55.00 per student
Each child over the age of 2 years is eligible to receive the following:
• Dental health educational show – interactive play.
• Comprehensive intra and extra oral examination
• Cleaning and scale
• Fluoride application
• Individualised treatment plans
• Gift bag
SDS Dentists are all highly qualified, experienced individuals who are registered with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency. They meet all the requirements of this agency in relation to delivering the service.
All staff providing the service have current Working with Children Checks. They all carry photo identification and the WWC number is printed with their photo.
Please complete the consent form and return it on or before (ideally before so that we know numbers of children) Tuesday 21st May 2019 and bring your child on the day, from 9:30am. Each child’s session will take approximately 10-15 minutes.
If you have other children up to the age of 17 years old, they are eligible also.
Good morning families,
If you have any pants or shorts that your child has outgrown, we would love to keep some at the centre as spare clothing.
We would also like to remind families to please pack spare clothing (including underwear, socks, pants/shorts, shirt and a jacket) in your child's bag each day in case they need to be changed.
Thank you.
