🎳 INCLUSIVE EDUCATION TENPIN BOWLING EXCURSION 🎳

On Friday 14 August, four Wellington High School students travelled to Dubbo to compete in the School Sport Unit’s 2026 Tenpin Bowling Competition for students in Inclusive Education.

πŸ‘ Brittany Coulter, Stevie-May Shaw Peckham, Skye Coad and Leslee Kavanagh Bailey proudly represented Wellington High School, competing against schools from across the Western Region of NSW.

The girls put in a fantastic effort and finished 10th overall, taking on some very strong competitors from across the Central West. 🌟

The competition was a wonderful opportunity for our students to:
🎳 develop their bowling skills
πŸ’™ build confidence
🀝 demonstrate teamwork and sportsmanship
🌟 connect with students from other schools in an inclusive and supportive environment.

It was a fantastic day filled with plenty of fun, encouragement and great sportsmanship. The girls thoroughly enjoyed their day in Dubbo with Miss Wellington and Penny.

Well done, Brittany, Stevie-May, Skye and Leslee β€” we are very proud of the way you represented Wellington High School! πŸ’™πŸ‘

🌲 Year 11 Timber Products and Furniture Technologies – Industry Study Visit 🌲

On Thursday, our Year 11 Timber Products and Furniture Technologies students had the opportunity to visit AKD in Oberon as part of their Industry Study assessment task.

The day began with a visit to Black Springs, where we met with Andrew and the Forestry Corporation team. Students learnt about plantation management, sustainability and the important role forestry plays in the timber industry. They also had the opportunity to see a harvester in action, providing a valuable insight into the process of harvesting plantation timber.

We then headed back to AKD, where James and Bruce from AKD took us on a tour of both the green mill and dry mill. Students were able to see the different stages of timber processing and gain a better understanding of the technology, machinery and processes involved in modern timber production.

A special thank you to Mason for driving us and helping make the excursion possible, and to Andrew and the Forestry Corporation team, James and Bruce from AKD, for taking the time to share their knowledge and expertise with our students.

It was a fantastic hands-on learning experience that will provide valuable knowledge and insights as students complete their Industry Study assessment task.

Miss. Woods would like to congratulate our Year 11 students for their excellent behaviour and professionalism throughout the day, you represented Wellington High School with pride! πŸŒ²πŸ‘

πŸͺ΅πŸͺš Year 9/10 Industrial Technology – Timber! πŸͺšπŸͺ΅

Our Year 9/10 Industrial Technology – Timber students have been hard at work this year, developing their practical woodworking skills through a variety of engaging projects.

Their first project involved the manufacturing of a mini Foosball Table, providing students with the opportunity to apply and refine a wide range of woodwork skills. Throughout the project, students strengthened their hand skills, including measuring, cutting, filing and applying quality finishes to their work.

Students also gained valuable experience using a range of power tools and machines, including the disc sander, drill press, band saw and orbital sander, while learning to manufacture their projects using timber joints such as rebate and housing joints.

Each Foosball Table showcases the students' dedication, growing confidence and attention to detail. It was wonderful to see their skills develop throughout the project, with every student producing a finished project they can be proud of.

Miss. Woods is incredibly proud of the entire class and the outstanding quality of their completed projects. We hope these handmade Foosball Tables provide plenty of fun, friendly competition, and entertainment at home for years to come!

Congratulations to all of our talented Year 9/10 Timber students on a fantastic achievement! πŸ‘πŸŽ‰
