Book Week is upon us 📚

If you don't have any costumes at home, that's ok, we have so many here that the children can wear for the day.

Please label everything so we can ensure it goes home with the right child.

Hey guys just wanted to update you all that we seem to be in a headlice epidemic 🤦🏼‍♀️ they're spreading quite quickly throughout the centre.

Whilst they pose no real medical concern, they can be uncomfortable for the children if not treated and they spread way quicker and quieter than you would believe.

Please for now read this fact sheet and check your children's hair daily for signs of headlice. This can include live bugs or eggs.

It is advised that you treat them immediately and then the child is able to return to care. Follow up treatment is required in 7 days and then another 7 days after that.

It is also very important to check the hair of all household members, wash all soft furnishings and bedding and use boiling water to wash hair brushes and hair bands.

Im no nit expert but I can tell you I've had them many many times throughout my teaching career. They're the most annoying thing but if everyone can work together to stay on top of their child, as a group we can limited the spread.

I would also like to know that I understand nit treatments are expensive and they're time consuming. If either of these reasons are deterring you from treating your child's hair, please come and see me. We will make arrangements to ensure that your child gets any required care.

It’s almost school photo time 📸
Once again we will be using the very talented Brinae at Dark Eye Photography. Brinae did our school photos last year and they all turned out amazing 🙌🏽 most of you probably also saw her at Santa photos 🎅🏾

This year there will be no option for class photos. As a further step into child safety we have decided that it is best not to send home photos where other families have access to children’s faces.

To order your photos please use the below link or scan the QR code. Paper copies will be going home with families and there will be posters with QR codes available at Gunyah.

Please note your school has requested Digital Only, Darkeye Photography has the option for prints to be purchased within your digital link for an additional price if you choose or do so.

Our Service has had two confirmed cases of RSV. In both instances the children were kept home whilst symptomatic.
However the severity of RSV can be extremely unpredictable. If your child is unwell please keep them home and if you’re concerned about how unwell they are do not hesitate to take them to be checked.

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common virus that can cause a range of severe respiratory illnesses such as bronchitis and pneumonia. Infections are most common in the colder months 🥶.

Symptoms of RSV disease include:

🦠 runny nose 🤧
🦠 fever 🤒
🦠 coughing wheezing or difficulty breathing 😮‍💨
🦠 earache or sinus pain 😩

People aged 75 years and over and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over 60 years and older are eligible for the FREE RSV vaccine 💉 through the National Immunisation Program.
