Our Palm Cockatoo Book Is Ready to Order! Our kindy children have created a beautiful book all about palm cockatoos — written in their own words and filled with photos taken right here at the centre. It captures their curiosity, humour, and learning in the most delightful way.

Books are $25 each, with all funds going directly back into future learning projects.

Early Learning Matters Week 3-9 August

Every day, we see the incredible curiosity, creativity and capability of young children. Through play, relationships and meaningful learning experiences, children develop the confidence, resilience and skills that lay the foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing.

Early childhood is not simply preparation for school—it is a valuable and important stage of life in its own right. Every conversation, every discovery, every friendship and every moment of belonging helps shape who children become.

This week, we celebrate the educators, families and community members who work together to give every child the very best start. Thank you for valuing children’s voices, respecting their rights and recognising that investing in early learning is an investment in our future.

Our Kindy children recently had a wonderful opportunity to visit Achimbun, the Western Cape Cultural Centre, Western Cape Communities Trust - WCCCA and learn more about the rich culture, history, languages and traditions of the Traditional Custodians of the lands we are connected to. 🌿

The children engaged with stories, knowledge, art and artefacts that helped deepen their understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives. It was a beautiful opportunity to listen, ask questions, share ideas and strengthen our connection to our local community and environment.

A special thank you to the Elders and staff at the Western Cape Cultural Centre for sharing your knowledge and welcoming us. We are so grateful for the experiences and learning you provided.

We would also like to thank Embley Contracting for helping make our visit possible with safe and reliable transport. We appreciate your support in creating these meaningful learning opportunities for our Kindy community. 🚌💚

🚓👮‍♀️ A big thank you to our local police officers for visiting our kindergarten recently!

The children were excited to learn about the important role police play in helping and keeping our community safe. They had the opportunity to ask lots of questions, explore the police vehicles, and learn about some of the equipment officers use in their daily work.

Visits like these help children build confidence, develop a sense of belonging within their community, and learn about the many people who work together to support and care for others.

Thank you to our wonderful Weipa police officers for taking the time to share your knowledge and experiences with us. We had so much fun and learned so much! 🚔✨

At Kindy, children’s safety is everyone’s responsibility. As we continue to build children’s understanding of road safety and safe travel practices, we ask all families to help us model and reinforce these important habits every day.

Please remember to:
🦺 Use the pedestrian crossings when arriving and leaving kindy.

🤝 Hold your child’s hand when crossing roads, car parks and driveways.

🚗 Ensure your child is travelling in an age-appropriate car seat or booster seat that is correctly fitted.

🔒 Check that all seat belts and harnesses are secured before every journey.

👀 Take extra care during busy drop-off and pick-up times, watching for children and families moving through the area.

Children learn best when they see the important adults in their lives demonstrating safe behaviours. By working together, we can help our children develop lifelong road safety habits and keep everyone in our community safe.
