Please send your child(ren) to school tomorrow with a labelled snap lock bag with no more than $10 if you would like them to purchase something from our stall. 🛍️

Closer look at some classes during NAIDOC 👀

Year 4 spent some time with Miss Sonia and our visitors preparing palms and weaving to make fish, crosses or their own creations. 🌿

Year 2 took a closer look at the book ‘We Look, We Find’ written by women and children from the Napranum community. This book features Thaynakwith language and is a great resource in our library 📚

🌿 NAIDOC Week at St Joey’s 🌿

What a wonderful start to NAIDOC Week at St Joey’s! We began with a special opening ceremony, followed by traditional scones prepared by Miss Sonia and Miss Clark & fruit donated by Woolies. We also had visitors from Rio Tinto explaining the different First Nations flora and fauna, weaving workshops, coconut scraping and a fantastic performance from our friends at Kluthuthu Christian College.

A great start to a week of celebrating and learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and traditions. 🖤💛❤️ 💚💙🤍

We warmly invite families and our St Joeys community to join us for our NAIDOC Week Opening Ceremony on Monday the 31 August, from 9:10am to 10:30am on the Basketball Court.

NAIDOC Week gives us the opportunity to come together, celebrate and acknowledge the rich cultures, histories and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
