ur Residential Campus. Our remote location is not seen by us as a disadvantage; rather, it's a unique opportunity that we embrace and take pride in. WCC is driven by a deep belief that every student is capable of successful learning. A high priority is given to building and maintaining positive and caring relationships between staff, students and parents. A Symphony of Stories 🎶🌿

What a special afternoon in Mapoon, sharing a 'Symphony of Stories' with our community.

We were privileged to hear stories from Nanna Von and Grandad Allan’s father, Sylvester. At 92 years young, Sylvester has a lifetime of stories to share.

He shared stories about a time before a road between Weipa and Mapoon, finding water, fishing and hunting, building roads and bridges, creating homes and helping build the Mapoon community. These stories give us an important glimpse into Mapoon’s history and the knowledge that has been passed down through generations.

We were also fortunate to have Nana Di share how traditional stories can be told through dance and music, bringing them to life and passing them from one generation to the next.

A beautiful afternoon of listening, learning and sharing stories that deserve to be remembered. ❤️

Arcade Game Creations 🎮

Our designs are planned, materials have been collected, joining techniques are almost mastered, and we’ve officially begun creating our arcade games in preparation for Arcade Rindi Day in Week 10!

We were also lucky enough to have a surprise visit from Mrs Allender! Her interest in our designs sparked an exciting idea… could we convince her to come along to our Arcade Day? 👀

After a quick collaborative brainstorm, we’re excited to put our persuasive writing skills to the test! ✍️

Mrs Allender should expect some very persuasive invitations coming her way soon!

We’re looking forward to celebrating Book Week 2026 next week (Week 7)!

It will be a great week dedicated to celebrating our love of reading, exploring new stories and discovering the many wonderful worlds that books can take us to. 💙📚

Our Kindy Crocs have been busy experimenting with snow crystals! Rindi made some fantastic observations and wondered whether the temperature of the water might be affecting the crystallisation process. We’re continuing to experiment with different water temperatures to see what happens🔬

🔬🌱 Science Week is off and running!

Our students have been busy gathering seeds from our local area and sorting them in preparation for Thursday’s lunch activity. We even put our Maths skills to work, using the seeds to practise estimation and measuring length and mass.

On Monday, during our Seeds of Science lunch activity, we explored cloud seeding and created salty snowflakes, which we’ll observe each day as they crystallise. ❄️

Today, we’ll be planting our bush tucker seeds with Miss Julie. 🌱
