On Day 4 of Year 9 Career Week, our students travelled to Ararat for an exciting tour of AME Systems.
AME Systems is an Australian-owned company leading the way in the design and manufacture of high-quality electrical wiring harnesses and assemblies. The company manufactures electrical wiring for Kenworth trucks, Thales’ Bushmaster vehicles and many other industries.
During the guided tour, students explored the different sections of the manufacturing facility and gained valuable insight into the various processes involved in designing, producing and assembling electrical wiring systems.
It was a fantastic opportunity for students to learn more about the manufacturing industry, discover the range of careers available within the sector and see how Australian businesses contribute to major industries.

Day 3 Year 9 Career Week—exposing students to local services that directly support youth wellbeing and community connection is exactly the kind of real-world learning that sticks.
What each organisation offers young people
• headspace Bendigo – A free, confidential mental health and wellbeing service for 12–25-year-olds, offering counselling, GP appointments, and support with education/work pathways
• Anglicare Victoria (Bendigo) – Provides youth-focused supports including family services, early help, family preservation/reunification programs, and residential youth services for young people who’ve experienced trauma or instability.
• Bendigo Community Health Services (BCHS) – Delivers specialist health and wellbeing services for 12–25s via GP/allied health clinics, Doctors in Secondary Schools, and headspace. They also run drug and alcohol counselling, housing support, sexual health, mental health, and programs for homeless and LGBTIQ+ young people.
• ARC Justice – A community legal centre that helps people with civil and some criminal matters, often focusing on access to justice for vulnerable groups; useful for students to understand legal rights, tenancy, fines, and family violence supports in the region.
• Yo Bendigo (City of Greater Bendigo Youth Strategy) – The council’s youth development work, including activities for rural young people, driver education (DEFY), partnership projects, and youth facilities.

Year 9 Careers Week – On Day 2, our Year 9 students travelled to Bendigo for two industry visits that highlighted career pathways and community impact. In the morning, students toured Thales Australia’s Bendigo facility, where Bushmaster and Hawkei protected vehicles are designed and manufactured for the Australian Defence Force. They learned about the engineering, trades, and logistics roles that keep advanced manufacturing running in regional Victoria, and the long-term employment opportunities created by recent defence contracts. Thank you, Rhett and Dane, for an educational tour.
In the afternoon, students visited Bendigo Foodshare, a central food rescue and distribution service supporting communities across Central Victoria, including the Loddon region. They explored how the program reduces food waste, supports families in need, and creates local jobs and volunteer opportunities in logistics, warehousing, and community services. The day gave students a clear picture of how skills in engineering, manufacturing, and community services can lead to meaningful careers close to home. Thank you, Joe and Paw Bleh informative tour.

🎓✨ Year 9 Careers Week is underway!
Day 1 saw our students tour Bendigo TAFE’s City and Charleston Road campuses, getting a close-up look at courses in hospitality, beauty, hairdressing, engineering, automotive, animal care, construction, plumbing and more.
It’s experiences like these that help our young people connect classroom learning to real world careers, and see the pathways available right here in our community.

HOUSE ATHLETICS

Wow, what a day! Our Athletics Carnival was one of the closest and most exciting competitions we have seen in recent years. Jacka came out victorious in both the Primary Shield (Ansett 11.31 and Jacka 11.92) and the Secondary Cup (Ansett 842 and Jacka 851).

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to support our students, and to our dedicated staff whose efforts helped make the day such a success.

The result brings the 2026 House competition to an even 2–2, setting up an exciting finale. With the Reading Olympics still to come, the overall champion for 2026 will be decided in a thrilling last event!
