It's Amy 's last day!!

Four years ago, Amy's vision to create a community that provided a sense of belonging, care and support to not only the beautiful children, but their families and the valued educators was 'born'.

Through covid and floods, ups and downs, literal blood, sweat and tears, and many, many successes and achievements, Amy and her team nurtured this 'baby', making a difference in the lives of our children, families and community, and creating a workplace where staff were safe, appreciated, and supported to thrive.

As our Village became a 'toddler', our second baby was born... with our sister service Foundations opening in Port Macquarie in 2022. With the support of an incredible education and care team, and a lot of hard work and assistance from Amy's family, both the Wauchope and Port Mac communities now benefit from these unique services, where

✨️ Relationships Are Central
✨️ Play Is Essential
✨️ Potential Is Infinite

We thank Amy for her dedicated service to our "village", and wish her all the best as she creates the next chapter of her adventure.

How grateful we are, that the weather juuust held off for our beautiful Grandparents gathering this afternoon!

Our Nans, Pops, Grans, Nins, Nan-Nans, Marzis and Parzis delighted their grandchildren by enjoying some gardening, flower arrangements, art, afternoon tea and special preschool-made lemonade together at preschool.

We obviously appreciate that "it takes a village to raise a child"... and how fortunate these children are, to have such special loved ones in theirs.

Thank you to our Grandparents for a magical time together, and thank you to our amazing education and care team - who once again, organised and facilitated yet another event that will remain in our hearts and memories for a lifetime.

These are the moments that matter. ✨️

Happy Grandparents Day 2024!

*Grandparents, families and loved ones!*

We have had reports of a poor weather forecast for this afternoon (Thurs 24th Oct).

Owing to our beautiful Grandparents afternoon plans being centred around nature and outdoors, our Wet Weather/ Plan B will be to postpone our gathering until Friday instead.

We hope we don't have to do this, and will make a decision and share with you at Midday.

Please stay tuned on Facebook and emails! πŸ‘¨β€πŸ¦³πŸ‘©β€πŸ¦³πŸŒΏπŸŒΈπŸ§πŸ₯ƒ

In Early Childhood Education and Care, and based on a Reggio Emilia Philosophy of teaching and learning, we refer to the "environment as the third teacher".

✨️Teachers/ Educators teach through connection, communication and collaboration.

✨️Children teach us! We are interactive, explorative, co-constructors of knowledge.

✨️The way in which the Environment is purposefully planned and presented provides abundant opportunities and possibilities.

At The Village Preschool & LDC, we believe our physical environment is second to none. You will recall that we have never advertised ourselves as big, fancy, shiny, or state of the art, but rather - barefoot, messy, authentic and magical.

This is no accident. In fact, none of our curriculum, pedagogy or practices are. There is meaning, purpose, research and reflection, and intention behind all that we are, all that we provide, and all that we do.

We couldn't have explained the "WHY" of our natural environment better.... please see The Curiosity Approach 's explanation below...........
πŸ‘‡ πŸ‘‡ πŸ‘‡ πŸ‘‡ πŸ‘‡ πŸ‘‡ πŸ‘‡ πŸ‘‡ πŸ‘‡

Know your WHY 🌱
In today's modern world, where screens dominate children's attention and urban landscapes replace natural environments, fostering a connection to nature has become crucial, especially in early childhood education. 🌿

The concept of biophilia, coined by renowned biologist Edward O. Wilson, suggests that humans possess an innate tendency to seek connections with nature. 🌿

Richard Louv, in his influential book "Last Child in the Woods," coined the term "nature deficit disorder" to highlight the negative consequences of the diminishing connection between children and the natural world. 🌱

At The Curiosity Approach, we believe in the importance of blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor environments, offering children ample opportunities to connect with nature. 🌿

By providing an environment that facilitates exploration of the natural world, educators can nurture children's natural curiosity and inspire a lifelong love for nature.🌿We move away from the plastic, shop purchased play dough resources and replace with natural items and Mother Natures gifts insteadπŸ’š

To step beyond the conventional plastic cutters, PVC table coverings, and laminated mats often used with play dough, at The Curiosity Approach we encourage you to introduce nature-inspired elements. 🌿

By blurring the lines between the indoors and outdoors, educators can counteract nature deficit disorder and provide children with meaningful experiences that ignite their sense of wonder. Incorporating nature-based play materials, such as play dough infused with natural elements. 🌿
