SCOTS PGC College

SCOTS PGC College We are a P-12 co-educational day and boarding school in Warwick, Queensland.

Our philosophy rests on the belief that a true education encourages young people to question and explore, to develop a strong sense of personal identity, to strive to achieve one's best, and to value the act of serving without losing one's desire to lead.

LEST WE FORGET | This Sunday, 30 August, a commemorative service will be held in Rampton, England, to honour former Scots College student Pilot Officer David Lecky Crichton and the crew with whom he served during the Second World War.

David attended Scots College until 1930 before working as a jackaroo on his family’s property. In May 1940, he enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force and trained as a pilot in Australia and Canada.

On 30 August 1941, David and his crew were involved in an aircraft crash near Cambridge. Seriously injured, David was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where he died on 1 September 1941.

David is one of our Magnificent 42, the former students who gave their lives in service during the Second World War. His story was shared as part of our 2020 ANZAC Day commemoration, which was filmed at the College when COVID restrictions prevented us from gathering for our traditional Dawn Service.

We are grateful to British war historian Mr Ken Garner for researching David’s story and helping ensure that he and his fellow crew members will be remembered at Sunday’s service, 85 years after their final flight.

As this commemoration takes place on the other side of the world, we invite our community to revisit our 2020 ANZAC tribute and join us in remembering David Lecky Crichton, whose courage and service remain part of the enduring story of our College.

Lest we forget.

TIME CAPSULE TUESDAY | This time, we are winding the clock back to what may feel 'not that long ago'...

The year was 2018, and our College was celebrating a very special milestone - the first of our centenary birthdays. To honour the occasion, our Pipes and Drums and some of our 2018 seniors set off on a special 'Centenary Tour'.

Our band performed at Menin Gate, Ypres, which also marked 100 years since the end of WWI. The group travelled throughout the UK and Europe, playing at multiple competitions and festivals during their visit.

Were you in the band during this era?

We'd love your help celebrating 75 Years of the SCOTS PGC Pipes and Drums

WHERE THE PIPES LEAD | Last Friday night, our Memorial Assembly Hall came to life as students from across the College took to the stage for 'Where the Pipes Lead'.

Created by Mrs Christine Peterson in celebration of Book Week, the production brought storytelling off the page and onto the stage through drama, music and performance. It was a wonderful opportunity for students of all ages to work together, embrace the challenge of performing and share their talents with a full house of family and friends of the College

Congratulations to every student involved. Whether performing on stage, playing with the Pipes and Drums, or supporting the production behind the scenes, your energy, enthusiasm and commitment made the evening one to remember.

Our sincere thanks to Mrs Peterson for the creativity, leadership and countless hours she invested in bringing the production to life, along with the staff and members of our Pipes & Drums community who supported rehearsals and the performance.

What a fitting celebration of Book Week and the power of stories to inspire, connect and bring people together. Well done to everyone involved!

FROM CLASSROOM TO CAREER | This morning, our Years 10 to 12 students joined local industry professionals at Kings Theatre, Club Warwick RSL, for a valuable morning of conversation, connection and career exploration.

Our keynote speaker, past student Neil Davidson (Class of 1997), shared insights from his career as an industrial designer and his experience building CLANDESTINE DESIGN GROUP - his industrial design firm that works with global companies across a diverse range of industries and projects. Neil also spoke of his time at SCOTS PGC and the influences that drew him into his area of expertise - a fascinating story for all who were present.

Students also heard from Lenny Breeze of Darling Downs Bank, Susan Shaw of Sir Harry Wagyu (Elbow Valley Beef), our Principal Mrs Emma Grave, and Neil during a panel discussion that explored their individual career pathways, lessons learned and the challenges shaping the future of work.

It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to look beyond the classroom, ask questions and gain a greater understanding of where their interests and skills might take them.

Thank you to our speakers, industry guests and everyone who helped make the morning possible. There was plenty of learning for everyone in the room!

⚛ SCIENCE WEEK... TRIVIA | We LOVED coming together this week to celebrate Science Week with some good old-fashioned family fun.

Think 'pub trivia' meets the Australian curriculum, and you've got yourself an evening that exercises the brain and sparks excellent discussion among all our willing participants.

Hats off to our Quiz Master, Ms Angela Brittain, for hosting a fun, science-themed evening that showcased topics taught in our science classrooms across the College.

Congratulations to our winning team...’Galileo', who took home the inaugural 'GOAT' trophy.

We are already looking forward to the next one!
