Big news from Whispering Gully Warwick! πŸŽ‰ We're expanding β€” with four brand-new rooms on the way, we'll soon be the biggest childcare centre in Warwick.

More rooms means more local families can join our community, without losing what makes us, us: genuine relationships, children's voices at the heart of everything, and a philosophy built on connection, culture and care.

We can't wait to share more as the build takes shape β€” watch this space, Warwick!

Our Children's Council β€” Collecting Children's Voices for Staff Appraisals

At Whispering Gully, we believe that every voice matters β€” and no voice matters more than the voices of our children.

This term, our Children's Council has taken on something truly special. With the same enthusiasm, care, and genuine sense of community responsibility that makes our council so extraordinary, our children have begun collecting the voices of their peers β€” asking the big questions, listening carefully to the answers, and capturing what our kindy community truly thinks and feels about the remarkable educators who show up for them every single day.

Because our children notice everything. They notice who sits beside them when they are sad. They notice who remembers their favourite colour, their favourite story, and the name of their dog at home. They notice who makes them feel safe, seen, celebrated, and genuinely loved β€” and they have things to say about it that are worth hearing.

Our Children's Council is gathering these voices and weaving them into our upcoming staff appraisals β€” ensuring that the people whose experience of our educators is the most immediate, the most honest, and the most deeply felt have a genuine and meaningful place in the way we celebrate and reflect on the work of our team.

This is children's agency in its most powerful and most beautiful form β€” young people understanding that their opinions matter, that their words have weight, and that the community they are part of is shaped, in part, by the voices they are willing to share.

We are so proud of our Children's Council for leading this work with such warmth, purpose, and genuine care. And we are so grateful to every child who has shared their voice β€” because in this place, your words always matter, and your story always belongs. πŸ’›πŸŒΏ

At Whispering Gully, we believe that the very best early childhood education is built on partnership β€” between educators and children, between our centre and our community, and most importantly, between our team and the families who trust us with the most precious and important people in their world.

As we prepare for our upcoming staff appraisals, we are inviting you β€” our families β€” to share your voice. Because you see things we sometimes cannot. You see the way your child talks about their educators at home. You notice the moments that matter β€” the small kindnesses, the conversations in the car on the way home, the way your child runs through our gate in the morning with a smile that tells you everything about how safe, seen, and loved they feel in this place.

That is the kind of feedback that means the most to our team. Not forms or checkboxes β€” but real, warm, and genuine words from the people who know our children best.

We have placed a mindmap in the foyer especially for you. We warmly invite you to stop, pick up a pen, and add your thoughts β€” about an educator who has made a difference to your child, a moment that moved you, a practice that you have noticed and valued, or simply something that has made Whispering Gully feel like home for your family.

There are no right or wrong things to say. Every word you share helps us celebrate the extraordinary work our educators do every single day β€” and helps us continue to grow, reflect, and be the very best we can be for your children.

Thank you for being part of our community. Your voice matters here β€” always. πŸ’›πŸŒΏ

Building Bridges: Our Excursion to Churches of Christ

What a joyful and successful morning our children had visiting our friends at Churches of Christ! This intergenerational excursion gave our children the wonderful opportunity to connect with residents, share experiences, and build meaningful relationships beyond our Kindy walls.

Children brought along their daily watercolour painting activity, sharing the paints they had made earlier in the week using recycled markers. Residents were delighted to see children's creativity in action, and many joined in, dipping brushes into the homemade colours and painting alongside the children. It was heartwarming to watch two generations connect over something as simple as colour and water.

Chloe added a beautiful musical element to the morning, playing guitar for residents and children together. Music filled the room as everyone joined in, some singing, some tapping along, creating a shared sense of joy and connection that words alone couldn't capture.

The morning continued with a lovely morning tea, giving children and residents time to sit together, chat, and build friendships over a cuppa and a snack. Afterwards, ball games brought lots of laughter and movement, while rounds of Connect 4 encouraged turn-taking, strategic thinking, and problem-solving between children and residents. Colouring in rounded out the visit, offering a calm, creative way for everyone to continue connecting.

This excursion beautifully reflects the QKLG principle of Partnerships, as children built genuine connections with members of our wider community. The practice of Learning through play was evident throughout, from painting to games, allowing children to explore social skills in a relaxed, authentic setting.

Linking to the 8 Ways of Learning, this experience strongly reflects Community Links, as children engaged directly with community members outside their usual environment. Story Sharing occurred through conversations over morning tea and games, while Non-verbal learning was present in the shared music-making and painting. Symbols and Images were central to the watercolour painting activity, allowing children and residents to express themselves creatively together.

This visit reminded us all that connection, creativity, and community can bridge any generational gap β€” one paintbrush, song, and game at a time.

Last week some of our educators participated in a PD Birdie's Tree; Supporting young children through disruptive events.

This was proudly hosted by Linda and Susan from BushKids, presented by Sharleen Keleher- QLD health and supported and James and the Southern Downs Regional Council

The vision for the PD is to prevent trauma- Empower children, families and communities - Support healing.

This program is especially designed for early learning settings, to help build the emotional resilience of babies and young children. The program helps little ones understand and be prepared for disruptive events like natural disasters, severe weather and pandemics.

We know that responsive relationships with caring adults support children's emotional wellbeing. This is especially true when a child's sense of safety and normality has been disrupted.

Educators often know childen's baseline behaviour better than other professionals outside the family.

A total of five resource packs were allocated as complimentary resources for all our rooms. Educators will implement these stories and activities into their programs

Community in action, stronger together to support our youngest citizens within our community!
