Allan State School 150 year Anniversary

It is with great sadness that I share that Mum, Joan May Lamke nee Dippelsman passed away on 7th September 2023. She was so happy to be a part of the Allan State School 150 year Anniversary celebration. We will miss her immeasurably.
A celebration of her life will be held at St Williams Grovely Thursday 14th September 11:00 a.m.

Notices conducted
by Mr John Raine, OAM). Welcome & Opening of the event by
Mr Paul Munson,
Author of “The History of Sandy Creek.”
9.30am March into school.
Talk inside the schoolhouse and conducted tour
of the grounds.
10.30am Repeat of Morning Programme. (Parade)
11.00am Schoolhouse talk and tour of grounds.

Lunch - BYO Lunch to enjoy under the trees. BYO chairs.

2pm Formal “Cutting of the Cake”.
Unveiling of the Plaque.
Acknowledgements.
3pm Conclusion.

The school was 150 years old on 13th May, 2022. An invitation is extended to past students and their families; former teachers and their families; and interested members of the Sandy Creek community.

The celebration is planned to acknowledge the school’s contribution to the history of Warwick and surrounds.

Sadly it has been decided to postpone the Anniversary celebrations for the school due to the weather and therefore access in to Warwick. There will be an event in the future but at this stage the Meet and Greet at the Darling Downs Hotel and the "School" day planned for tomorrow will not go ahead.

Thank you to everyone for your interest. Further events will be posted on this page and in the Allan State School 150th Anniversary group.

The celebrations of the Allan State School begin this Friday night at the Darling Downs Hotel (Sandy Creek Pub) 345 Sandy Creek Rd, Allan QLD 4370.
An area has been set aside for those who wish to attend. Past pupils, past teachers, their families and those interested in the Sandy Creek area are warmly invited to share a meal (ordered and paid for on the night) at the hotel at 6:00 p.m. for 6:30 start.

Mr Paul Munson will also be launching his book on the history of the Sandy Creek area.

"Hi, I found this sketch dated ca 1867 of nearby Allora primary school which of course was designed by R. George Suter in the same Qld vernacular timber diagonal studding he was renowned for while he was employed by the Dept of Public Instruction. Sandy Creek would have been the same as we know
