As part of our Reading Improvement Agenda, our school’s Low Variance Routine (LVR) in phonics and word reading/spelling is school-wide, in every classroom, every day.

It reviews learnt sounds and words/spelling rules, and explicitly teaches and practices new concepts. We sound out, read, and write sounds, syllables, words and sentences on our whiteboards and “Chin it” (flip our whiteboards to show our teacher).

This routine is proving to be a highly successful strategy in learning and practicing our phonics concepts and we have seen great growth, school-wide!

Start your day the way six state schools' worth of kids start theirs 🥣

The Warwick Chamber of Commerce Inc is teaming up with The Village Care Network Inc for a Breakfast Connect with a difference. No big fry-up here. Your breakfast will be exactly what's served through The Village's breakfast clubs, currently supporting six state schools across our area:

Weet-Bix
Vegemite on toast
An apple
A small juice

The Village is a local NFP led by Noo Shepherd, working to make sure kids across Warwick have breakfast before school. Every dollar raised on the morning goes straight to The Village to help them keep buying supplies. You're welcome to grab a coffee on the way in, but the point of the morning is to eat what these kids are starting their day with.

We'll also hear from one of our local state school principals on why this program matters.
