Been experimenting with some painting and some of my favourite colours. I’m regretting adding the green though. Not sure if it’s finished yet…

A year in the making, presenting…my first ever completed knitting project!!! I started this on maternity leave when Daphne was just a big bump, and it came all the way around Aus with us, being tackled in fits and spurts. I have always longed to learn how to knit and I must say that it is still very much a foreign language to me, but I’m so proud of myself for finishing something and working through each obstacle I encountered (with an enormous amount of help from .helen.m and Aunty Felicity). I already have about ten more projects in my head I want to start, in true Sally-style, but my production will have to speed up significantly if I ever want to achieve them all. I’m just glad I got this done before this cute poppet grew too big 😅😍

< FAMILY TIME, ADELAIDE >
We had the most amazing time relaxing with Aunty Felicity in Adelaide, and catching up with Sal’s brothers and their families for various meals and activities. It was really nice to spend so long there after the last few years. Felicity was so generous with embracing our hurricane of a family into her home. Treasured memories with the kids’ cousins. Til next time!

Matching Jackets for Daphne and her bestie 👯‍♀️ …these were an absolute pleasure to sew. I started cutting these out in the first few days of maternity leave, and was actually sewing some of the seams while in early labour. I had intended to machine sew the binding on and finish it by hand on holiday, but forgot to attach it on the machine before leaving, so ended up doing all of the binding by hand. This was actually the most perfect, easy, mindless activity for those early post-partum hazy days! There was also something about the squishy quilted texture of the fabrics and the lovely colours that just made it a joy to pick up and complete a few stitches here and there. Another satisfying aspect was that all the fabric came from the op shop (binding was made from scraps left over from my Tamarack). Sewing small things is quite gratifying in terms of using scraps and getting bang for your buck time-wise! Pattern is the

🎇CHRISTMAS CRACKERS 🎇 this year I decided to sew up some reusable Christmas crowns to go in some handmade bonbons. I used scraps of fabric and interfacing from past projects, and my niece decorated some little joke cards to go inside. I ordered pictures of our family from the past 12 months on tiny little fridge magnets and then added a Lindt ball to complete the package. I used the kids’ painting to wrap them up but will probably use soft tissue paper next year as it was hard to rip them apart 🤣. All in all a satisfying project that will keep bringing joy for years to come!
