Mary Reeves always knew her daughter Emily was amazing. What mother doesn’t?
What Mary didn’t know was just how far Emily’s impact would reach when she nominated her for an Inspiring Alumni Award, helping uncover a story that has since inspired a new generation of Emmanuel students.
Emily went on to be inducted as an Inspiring Alumni — But behind Emily’s story is Mary. If she never made the nomination, we would never know.
So, who do you know?
Who deserves to have their story told and inspire the next generation?
Nominations for our Inspiring Alumni Awards close in November.
You might just be the person who helps uncover our next inspiring story.

Emmanuel College Warrnambool
The place for Emmanuel College families and past students to connect

may know Catherine Ryan as a passionate teacher, Head of English, mum of two and a Port Fairy local. But there is another story—one that stretches thousands of kilometres beyond the Emmanuel College classroom.
What started as a three-month journey to Africa became a lifelong commitment to changing lives when she founded The Bandari Project- and built a school for children in Tanzania.
We found out about the journey when we caught up with Catherine and included her article in our College Connection.

Emmanuel College was delighted to welcome 10 students and one staff member from our sister school, Obirin Junior High School in Tokyo, for a week of cultural exchange, learning and friendship.
During their stay, the students were warmly welcomed by Emmanuel host families, attended classes alongside their host brothers and sisters, participated in Japanese lessons, and enjoyed a range of memorable activities. Highlights included a visit to Warrnambool Wildlife Encounters, a cooking class learning to make Australia's iconic meat pies, and experiencing everyday life as part of the Emmanuel community.
Most importantly, the exchange fostered meaningful cultural connections and lifelong friendships, with students and host families creating memories that will be treasured for years to come.
A warm thank you is extended to host families and the college community for the experiences provided during their stay.

Last week our College Captains and College Leadership Team were proud to join primary schools from across the parish in celebrating the retirement of Father John Fitzgerald.
Together, we thanked Father John for his many years of faithful service, guidance and commitment to Catholic education. His support of Emmanuel College and the young people of our parish has made a lasting impact.
Thank you, Father John, and every blessing for a happy and well-earned retirement.
