π DAYLIGHT SAVINGS for us Victorians SOON!! So what do we do!?!?
π© While us mums may lose an hour of sleep on Sunday, 5th October (Saturday night/Sunday morning) with daylight savings, the good news is that our 5:00am early risers will finally βsleep inβ until 6:00am as the clocks move forward! ππππ
You often hear about preparing for daylight savings by adjusting your babyβs bedtime 10-15 minutes earlier or later every few days β°. However, this can often be confusing π«€ and may backfire if your baby doesnβt sleep longer the next day, leading to crankiness and overtiredness π
This is why we recommend doing nothing* and making the adjustment once daylight savings starts by waking them at their usual time eg) If their usual wake time is at 7am, to wake them at 7:00am (which would have previously been 6:00am), and continue to put them down for their scheduled nap/s at the new corrected time which will help their circadian rhythm adjust more quickly π₯°
With that said, if your baby is still catnapping, resisting sleep, or waking frequently overnight, book a consultation or download our Sleep Essentials Guide at www.settletosleep.com.au so we can support you in restoring sleep for you and your family π©·πΈπ«
