Join us every Thursday upstairs at the Surfboat Brewery in Warriewood for our free taster class 6.30-7pm followed by our casual beginner class 7-8pm. 🎶

No partner or experience is required. Come and have some fun! 🎉

In our new programs we incorporate a good portion of technique, teach you to freestyle your content rather than just spoon feed you a combination and devote time to learning about musicality.

A question was posed as to why? “what’s the point?”

We think the point of anything in life is experience…….

- To experience a deeper understanding of the dance you are learning.
- To provide the best experience you can for the person you are dancing with.
- To experience stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something new.
- To enjoy the dance more because you are doing it well and experiencing the rewards of the effort you have put it in to do it well.
- To experience a different way of moving your body - albeit challenging to master. This also builds new neural pathways which we all know have proven benefits to all aspects of your health.
- To experience the process and all the growth that comes with that.
- To experience having a tool box that allows your dancing to be more expressive. Rather than just learning a physical action.
- To experience a deeper connection with the music.
- To understand how to move in a safe way for you and your dance partner.
- Experiencing a community of diverse yet like-minded people who share a common passion.

What would you add?

Partner dancing is a language. The level of which you know the language governs the level of communication you have on the dance floor. 💃🏻🕺

The Salsa Society is super excited to introduce Eugenie Chan (DJ Genie) as our new resident DJ and instructor for our weekly Wednesday night taster class and social at the Ivanhoe Hotel Manly. 🎉

Since 2015, DJ Genie’s passion for Latin dance has grown from being an enthusiastic dancer and performer to a dedicated Latin dancer and teacher in various settings.

Her lifelong performance experience in various dance genres and prior teaching roles, combined with her love of Latin dancing, give DJ Genie an innate understanding of the dancers’ needs and desires on the floor. Her ultimate goal is to share the magic of Latin dance through tailored music that deeply connects with every dancer and their every moment on the floor, ensuring a joyful experience for all.

Bachata 8 week course - July 3rd 8pm

Our beginners’ classes start next week, teaching you the fundamentals to set you on your path as a competent and fantastic dancer. You’ll learn the most important starter points and the base for all salsa and bachata dance, and leave the term understanding how to lead or follow in a number of different ways. Our class is designed completely for beginners, and requires no skill or former dance training. We’re here to have fun!
