When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:

Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.

At Burke Street Goodstart, we had a wonderful time celebrating National Donut Day today. There were lots of smiles, laughter, and, of course, some tasty donuts from Warragul Lean & Green to enjoy! 🥰

📚✨ Today at Goodstart Burke Street, we proudly joined millions of children across Australia for National Simultaneous Storytime 2026! 💛

This year’s wonderful story, Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller, brought excitement, teamwork, courage, and plenty of smiles to our learning spaces. The children were fully engaged as we explored Luna Roo’s journey of determination, friendship, and believing in yourself. 🦘⚽

National Simultaneous Storytime is a beautiful initiative that promotes the joy of reading, literacy, and connection within communities right across the country. Today, our children enjoyed coming together to share the same story at the same time as thousands of other early learning centres, schools, libraries, and families. 📖✨

Through storytelling, songs, discussions, and group experiences, we celebrated the magic of books and the importance of developing a lifelong love for reading. 💫
