Grade 3/4 students have been enjoying exploring all things relief printmaking in their Visual Arts class. So far, they have created starburst backgrounds using oil pastels in warm or cool colours before designing their own printing tiles.

A real focus was using shape and line radiating outwards from a central point. Using a grey lead, students transferred their designs onto foam, carved into the surface and then inked and printed their designs four times, rotating each print around the centre to create a balanced pattern, they are so proud of their designs.

The students are now ready to move into the final phase for the term of carving into lino tiles using lino printing tools to make rubber stamps. We can't wait to share the results!

Growing Healthy Habits: Our Grade 2 students are taking part in an exciting Healthy Eating Pilot Program, designed to encourage healthy food choices while helping gather valuable information for the project.

As part of the program, students recently visited Flavorite, where they learned how fresh vegetables are grown and had the opportunity to explore a working greenhouse. It was a wonderful hands-on experience that gave students a greater appreciation for where their food comes from and the journey it takes before reaching our tables.

A big thank you to Flavorite for welcoming our students and supporting this fantastic learning opportunity.

Our Grade 5/6 students recently enjoyed an incredible learning experience at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and the Australian Sports Museum. Through a behind-the-scenes tour of the iconic MCG with a sustainability focus, the interactive 'Game On!' exhibit and the museum galleries, students explored the stories of influential Australians while discovering the role sport plays in shaping our nation.

The day also provided opportunities to investigate Melbourne's geography, learn about sustainability in large-scale venues and enjoy lunch together in beautiful Yarra Park. It was a fantastic day of hands-on learning, teamwork and memorable experiences beyond the classroom.

Our students have been busy exploring the world of coding with Bee-Bots!

Through hands-on activities, students are learning how to sequence instructions and create algorithms to solve problems and navigate challenges. These early coding experiences help develop computational thinking, logical reasoning, collaboration and perseverance - essential skills for the future.

This is just the beginning! Across all year levels, we're diving deeper into the coding universe, with some exciting new digital technologies and equipment arriving soon. We can't wait to see our students continue to innovate, create and develop their coding skills through engaging, real-world learning experiences.

The future is full of possibilities, and our students are ready to code it!

Our Grade 5/6 students proudly represented St Angela of the Cross at the recent HoopTime Basketball Tournament, displaying wonderful teamwork, determination and sportsmanship throughout the day.

After a series of outstanding games, our team progressed all the way to the Final. While the result didn't go our way, they should be incredibly proud of their efforts, resilience and the way they represented our school both on and off the court.

Congratulations we are so proud of you all.

Our Gardening Club has been hard at work, making a wonderful difference around our school!

Each week, our students join Mrs Harris and Mrs Davies in the garden to w**d, water, plant and care for our growing outdoor spaces. Along the way, they've also been busy exploring for bugs, discovering the many insects and creatures that call our garden home, and learning about the important role they play in a healthy ecosystem.

It's fantastic to see our students developing practical gardening skills, working together as a team, and building a connection with nature through hands-on learning.

A big thank you to all of our Gardening Club students for your enthusiasm, curiosity and willingness to get your hands dirty. Your hard work is helping our school garden thrive!

One of the most treasured traditions at St Angela of the Cross is our Foundation and Grade 5/6 Buddies Program.

Our Grade 5/6 students warmly welcome and support our newest Foundation students, helping them settle into school life with confidence, kindness and friendship. Whether they're reading together, completing classroom activities, celebrating special events or simply sharing a smile or having a familiar face out on the yard at lunchtime, these moments create meaningful connections that last throughout the year.

Our Buddies Program not only helps our Foundation students feel safe, supported and included, but also provides our Grade 5/6 leaders with valuable opportunities to demonstrate responsibility, compassion and leadership.

Watching these friendships grow is a wonderful reminder that our school is more than a place of learning - it's a community where everyone belongs.
