This is most of what a Fiddlesticks class actually looks like. Less choreography, more jumping around and having a great time, and that's exactly how we like it ๐ต๐
And of course behind all the noise and the wiggles, there's a whole lot of real learning happening.

Taking turns and sharing the spotlight are a big part of our group classes, long before anyone's ready for a stage. Right now we think it's so important to help our kids learn to wait, watch, and clap for someone else's go. Which is a much harder skill than it sounds for little ones! But a big part of what we do to help them grow more than just musically ๐

At Fiddlesticks, we have a deep belief in the power of the village to grow and nurture children. And a deep respect for the connection between child and adult, which is why our classes are intentionally family centred, with adult participation in the fun encouraged ๐
And there's real science behind why it works!
When families make music together, like singing, playing, or moving to a beat, something happens in the brain. Movements and emotions start to sync up too. And that synchrony releases endorphins and oxytocin, the same hormones behind trust, closeness, and feeling safe with someone.
So when you're up there dancing badly next to your toddler, or fumbling through a song together, just remember that's not just a nice moment... it's bonding, happening in real time.

Music classes and memory building ๐ค๐ผ๐ต
Learning a song, a rhythm, or a sequence of movements in music classes gives young kids real practice at holding information and calling it back. The same skill that helps with everything from stories to instructions to schoolwork later on.
In the early years it might just look like getting the actions wrong three times before it clicks, but that's all part of memory building! ๐๐ผ
