Today was an exciting day! The official opening of our Warracknabeal Education Precinct.

We wanted to take this opportunity to thank some of the community members who fought so hard to draw attention to this project and took part in the Finish What You Started campaign.

From Stacey Drage who stood out the front of the supermarket and basketball stadium to garner community support and get signatures on postcards. Karly Kirk for her dogged relationship-building with all our local politicians (and very nearly turning into a stalker!)
Kate Liersch and Kazz Inkster for bringing their communication expertise to the campaign.
Tracy Dart and Melanie Wallis for strategic support and Kelly Schultz for helping with article writing to kick off the campaign.

To Jaala Pulford and Stuart Grimley for their support in parliament.

To the students from Warracknabeal Secondary College who shared their stories for the campaign.

A special thank you to ALL those who supported us behind the scenes signed postcards or offered help when needed.

To our local media for their ongoing support of our campaign Warracknabeal Herald The Weekly Advertiser Wimmera Mail-Times The Weekly Times ABC Wimmera Dave Lennon and Jess Black for bringing our story into the spotlight initially on ABC News and former student Jack Quick Quick for his piece.

To the principals and staff of Warracknabeal Primary School Warracknabeal Secondary College and Warracknabeal Special Developmental School who never gave up hope.

We did it.

Or in other words "finishing what you started!"
We are so excited and grateful.

It's A bloody great thing for our kids, our community and our economy.

Warracknabeal’s getting new schools, and plenty of new jobs too.

We’ve announced an additional $19.8 million to help finish the Warracknabeal Education Precinct.

It’s on top of the $6 million we’ve already committed – and the funding will cover the rebuild of Warracknabeal Primary and Secondary College, and Warracknabeal Special Developmental School too.

We’re building new administration areas, a gym and function room. This funding will also help complete the primary school classrooms, new outdoor and sensory areas, woodworking and metal fabrication facilities and a new gallery and art space.

The upgrade will help ensure that Warracknabeal students have access to a world-class education and some of the best facilities around.

And the build will create direct jobs for local builders, plasterers, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, landscapers and more.

It's just one of over $2.7 billion in building projects we're fast-tracking to keep Victorians in jobs and kickstart the state's economy.

And companies contracted to build it will have to prioritise locals who've lost their jobs during coronavirus before anyone else.

We're building more schools.

We're creating more jobs.

And we're strengthening Victoria's economy too.

It was a very positive meeting today with James Merlino and Jaala Pulford MP.

Sadly James had left his cheque book at home but he seems to genuinely want to .

He couldn't promise how much or even if we were definetly getting funding this budget, as it's all still being locked in but he is well aware of our situation and agrees it's urgent.

He didn't exactly say it but we think he is pretty excited about the idea of coming out to visit the now infamous metropolis of Warracknabeal. 😁

Thanks also to Jessie Holmes and Mayor Massey from the Yarriambiack shire for their support.
