Waroona District High School Waroona District High School offers a Kindergarten to Year 10 education to our students. Our purpose is to provide a quality education for all of our students.

The school is situated in a beautiful garden setting close to the town centre. Our school operates a number of specialist programs including Visual Arts, Design and Technology, Home Economics, Music and Performing Arts.We have purpose built Music and Dance Rooms and a program which we hope will continue to grow substantially in the years to come, this affords our students the opportunity to develo

p their talents in this area. The school attends Country Week annually and it is a much anticipated experience for our students. We operate a thriving Bush Rangers Cadet Program in which every secondary student is involved. This enables the school to provide an extensive environmental program and our students have the opportunity to build relationships with local environmental groups and industry. These opportunities exist on our doorstop and give our students a distinct advantage over others in the development of environmental skills and knowledge. We achieve this by creating a positive school culture which encompasses consistent and clear expectations for both staff and students based on common language. We intend to provide a safe learning and teaching environment which encourages a sense of belonging and strong community partnerships. The School became a Positive Behaviour School (PBS) in 2015 and has a strong team of teachers, administrators and community members who are working collaboratively to ensure its effective implementation. A matrix which defines whole school expectations has been developed and adopted across the school; Kindergarten to Year 10. The aim of this is the achievement of greater positive academic and behavioural outcomes for all students. Waroona District High School values the assistance and support of our local community. They share the schools high expectations for their children's education and for the school as a whole. We have two strong P&C groups which focus on all sections of the school. Their generous donations and provision of services to our school; including such things as the Uniform Shop and various Social Events keeps our school thriving. It makes for a happy and warm atmosphere which is noted by all who visit us. We also have an elected School Council which represents the interests of students, staff, parents and the community as a whole. Waroona DHS is in a fabulous position as we move forward and continue to strive to be the quality school that the community both wants and deserves: 'The School of Choice' in our local area.

The results are in from today’s Primary Jumps and Throws events! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Our students gave it their all, showing fantastic effort, enthusiasm and team spirit throughout the day. 💪👏

What a wonderful Science Week our Pre-Primary students have had! 🔬✨

Our little scientists have been busy exploring, predicting, observing and discovering through lots of exciting hands-on experiments.

🍿 Dancing Popcorn – watching the popcorn kernels move and “dance” was so much fun!
🥚 The Egg Experiment – investigating what happens to an eggshell when placed in different liquids, helping us understand what these changes can teach us about our teeth.
🌋 Volcanoes – creating bubbly, fizzy eruptions and learning about chemical reactions.
💧 Sink or Float – making predictions and testing which objects would sink and which would float.

It has been wonderful to see so much curiosity, excitement and wonder as our students explored the world of science. We love seeing our young scientists ask questions, make predictions and learn through discovery! 🧪🧡

What a busy and rewarding day on Rottnest Island! 🌿🌊

The day started early with breakfast before the Student Leaders headed into Rottnest Town Centre for their first tour, Prisoners and Pioneers. The students explored the fascinating history of Rottnest; from its beginnings as part of the mainland, to the island we know today. They also learnt about the influence of local Aboriginal groups and the significant impact colonisation had on their lives.

The tour continued with stories of the island’s pioneers and the pilot boat service that guided ships through Gage Roads and into Fremantle. It was wonderful to see the students so engaged as they stepped back in time and discovered more about Rottnest’s past.

After lunch, it was back to the Town Centre for a second tour, this time exploring the many shipwrecks and reefs surrounding the island. The stories of the challenges and hardships faced by early explorers really brought the history of Rottnest to life.

Then it was time for some friendly competition! ⛳ The students battled it out over a round of mini golf, with Ryot taking the win! 🏆

After dinner, the Student Leaders continued their important Student Voice work, sharing ideas and helping to shape our school culture.

Finally, the evening ended with some well-earned downtime, snacks, card games and plenty of socialising. 🃏🍿
It was certainly a very busy day, but an incredibly rewarding one. We are so proud of the way our Student Leaders are embracing every opportunity to learn, contribute and enjoy this experience together! 💙🌟
