Planning is well underway for our Try a Sports Day!
The year 11 students have been busy writing and following up on professional emails, making phone calls, and preparing information package including posters, social stories and maps for the event. Students from other local Education Support schools will also be participating, giving our senior school students the opportunity to be positive role models and student leaders. An event like this not only promotes community spirit and inclusion, but also creates valuable opportunities to build partnerships with local schools, sporting groups and community organisations.

This term, our students have been exploring what it means to build a sustainable community, guided by the big idea:

“Sustainability means meeting our needs today without harming the future.”

Through rich, real-world learning across Science, Humanities, Maths and English, students have investigated how our communities and environments are interconnected. They have explored ecosystems, food production and security, environmental challenges, and the ways our choices can impact people and places both now and into the future. Importantly, students are also discovering that young people can be active contributors to their communities. They are learning to identify real community needs, investigate evidence, consider different perspectives and develop practical, sustainable ideas for positive change.

As the term progresses, students will bring this learning together by developing their own ideas to improve their local community and using their research, creativity and persuasive skills to show how young people can help shape a more sustainable future.

What an incredible opportunity we had last week! Our school, alongside many others, hit the court for a series of games, and while we might say our school put on the strongest performance, the real winner was the spirit of basketball itself.

But the excitement didn’t stop there. A handful of students were then selected to take the court against the actual Perth Wildcats.

Ritchie delivered an absolute standout performance, showing skill, confidence, and serious composure. And in a moment, none of us will forget, our very own Year 7 Tyler drained a buzzer be**er to finish the game in style. The whole stadium erupted.

What a day. What a memory. What a team.

Term 3 Farmer 8 Learning Reflection

This term, Farmer 8 students have been researching, investigating and solving real-life problems connected to their community.

Through Maths and HASS, students have collected and organised data, created graphs and used statistics to identify community needs and consider possible improvements. They have been learning how data can help us make informed decisions.

In Science, students have conducted experiments exploring physical and chemical changes. They have made observations and used evidence to explain what happened and identify the type of change.
Across these learning experiences, students have developed important skills including asking questions, collecting evidence, interpreting information and explaining their thinking.

Most importantly, students have been building confidence, independence and problem-solving skills while connecting classroom learning to real-life situations.
