St Philip's Christian College Dynamic Learning Dynamic Learning College is an Alternative Learning Environment for students in Years 3 – 12. We want to change lives by inspiring young people.

St Philip's Christian College Dynamic Learning is for students in Years 3-12 who have Anxiety, Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Autism. It is a school of new beginnings, full of grace and second chances with campuses in Newcastle, Cessnock, Gosford and Port Stephens that aim to create a program in which students with particular needs can feel loved, understood, challenged and secure.

Our campuses in Cessnock, Gosford and Port Stephens are within the St Philip's Christian College grounds and are very much part of the culture of each College. We aim to create an environment where students love coming to school. A place they feel valued and appreciated for who they are and experience success in their learning. We believe by providing this kind of environment, our students experience God's unsurpassable love. Dynamic Learning College offers small class numbers with a minimum rotation of staff throughout the week to create a sense of security and belonging for our students. Our experienced staff identify the academic and social needs of our students. This is then embedded into a program that teaches the skills needed for life and employment.

DINOSAURS, MARIO, LUIGI, AND PLENTY OF LITERARY MAGIC! // Our Newcastle Campus celebrated Book Week in style, with students and staff showcasing some incredible costumes and plenty of creativity. The day was filled with laughter, imagination, and a shared appreciation for the stories that inspire us.

There were plenty of smiles, a few wobbles and lots of determination as students challenged themselves and built confidence on the rink. What a great way to stay active and try something new!

PROVIDENCE = SMASHED AVO AND GUACAMOLE FOR DAYS! // This week Stage 4 from Port Stephens travelled to Adams Avocados farm in Bob’s Farm owned and operated by DLC family Yvonne and Jamie Adams.

This excursion connected multiple learning areas and involved a hands on experience for topics covered in Science, Technology and Geography.

We learnt that:
• Avocado’s are a fruit.
• Avocado trees rely on pollinators to produce a crop. When bee’s were affected by varroa mite, fly’s did the majority of pollination on the Adam’s avocado farm.
• There are over 800 trees on their farm and they produce 1.2 tonnes of avocados a week!

We were also reminded of how God created plants on the third day of His creation, a day before he created the sun! These were created to provide, food and nutrition, beauty, ecological balance and the perfect home for man and animals.

This shows how God knows and provides what we need before we even ask.

The Green Door is the on-farm roadside stall for Adams Avocados. It is 3321 Nelson Bay Road, Bob’s Farm. They are open every Saturday until Christmas from 10am to 2pm.

ALICE IN WONDERLAND // Our students from Stage 3 Newcastle did an incredible job bringing Alice in Wonderland to life at our assembly this week!
They combined their Drama and English learning to explore character, narrative, scripts, and creative writing. We are incredibly proud of the courage they showed performing in front of their families and the whole school. What a wonderful achievement!

ATHLETICS CARNIVAL // What an incredible day at the DLC Athletics Carnival on Tuesday! A huge congratulations to Newcastle Campus, who took home the overall win!

From the track to the field, there were records broken across all event categories, showcasing the talent, determination and hard work of our students. Most importantly, it was wonderful to see students giving everything a go, cheering each other on and displaying outstanding sportsmanship throughout the day.

We're so proud of every student who participated and helped make the carnival such a fun and memorable event. Well done, everyone!
