With small class sizes up to year six, our students reap the benefits of 1:1 teacher time. Don Valley Primary School is located in the tranquil Don Valley, one kilometre from the Warburton Highway at Launching Place, and only 15 minutes from Healesville. It’s a peaceful semi-rural area nestled at the foot of the mountains in the scenic Yarra Valley, one hour east of Melbourne. Ours students come b

oth from the local area and wider community with families selecting the school to meet their childrens’ needs and for a greater sense of community. We particularly value the importance of maintaining a caring and supportive environment together with meeting the needs of individual students. We have a proud tradition of academic excellence and a commitment to enabling each student to reach their potential. The school offers a broad and varied curriculum in its focus on educating the whole child. We also offer Before School Care and After School Care services.

⛏️ ⭐️ Sovereign Hill Camp - Year 5/6 ⭐️ ⛏️
Day Two finished on a high with a delicious chicken parmigiana dinner, followed by frozen yoghurt and a hilarious trivia night, brilliantly hosted by our quiz master extraordinaire. The competition was fierce and the laughs were endless!

Day Three took us to the Chinese Camp on the goldfields, where we stepped back in time and explored an important part of Australia's history. We also enjoyed some well-earned fun at the playground before making the most of our shopping time—with the lolly shop proving to be the clear favourite!

What an unforgettable camp for our budding history buffs—full of adventure, laughter, and memories to treasure!

⛏️ 5/6 Camp Sovereign Hill - Day 2
WOW — what a HUGE day! ⛏️✨

Surprisingly, we all managed to get a good night’s sleep, so we were ready for another action-packed day on the goldfields!

We kicked things off with an education session where we learnt all about gold licenses and life as a prospector. We then headed back out for some more gold panning, where our determined prospectors refused to give up… and **EUREKA! We struck it rich! 💰✨**

The adventures continued as we met the Goldfields butcher, tried our hand at old-fashioned bowling, watched an impressive Red Coat demonstration and enjoyed a horse and carriage ride.

We also witnessed the magic of gold pouring and discovered how a voltaic battery works before finishing the day with an unforgettable adventure underground — exploring a mine ⛏️

What a day of learning, laughter, history and adventure! Our little prospectors are certainly making the most of every moment at Sovereign Hill! 🌟

While students in P-1 learn about the solar system, it is fun for them to use their imaginations on Friday afternoons as they separate science from fiction! Great to have the Year 2s join in! 👽

Thank you to Tenielle and Paris from Blue Light for our DASH program as well as our community helpers Bree and Cheryl
for inspiring our students to showcase their campaigns for helping endangered animals.

The quality of the presentations were all fabulous, however the most outstanding group was the group campaigning for 'The Growling Grass Frog'.

The group will now work with Teneille to further organise fund raising and implementing their ideas. The school will be given $1000 for this to happen! Congratulations to all participants today. 👏👏👏

As part of our Book Week celebrations, our senior students enjoyed a special visit to Verso Bookshop! 📚✨ Students had a wonderful time exploring the shelves, choosing some exciting new books for our school library and hearing from Shannyn, who shared her knowledge and passion for all things books. Verso Books also kindly gifted us our very own book to take home. What a fantastic way to celebrate Book Week and inspire a love of reading! 📖💫
