Year 10 Ski Trip day 2 fun

All families have been emailed an invitation for parents and carers to join us for a relaxed afternoon to learn more about the Resilience In Our Teens (RIOT) Program, currently being implemented at Wallsend Campus.

Being held on Tuesday 1 September 2026 from 3.30pm, check the email for more information and follow the link to RSVP.

Through the RIOT Program we are helping our students learn that feeling uncomfortable, worried or challenged doesn't always mean something is wrong - and it doesn't always mean we need to avoid it. Instead, we can help young people:

- Sit with discomfort
- Problem-solve through challenges
- Build confidence by doing hard things
- Recognise when avoidance is getting in the way
- Develop the skills they need for the road ahead

At Wallsend Campus we believe we can do hard things - and every challenge successfully navigated helps build a more resilient young person.

We can't prepare every road for our children. But together, we can prepare our children for the road.

Day 1 fun!

Congratulations to all participating Wallsend Campus students who had a fantastic day at Somerset Park, Thornton, for the NRL All Abilities Gala Day.

Students took part in a variety of skill drills during the morning session before playing three League Tag games in the afternoon against Hunter River, Dungog and Glendale High Schools.

Our amazing VET Sport Coaching students were also onsite to assist with this NRL pilot school program. The girls received high praise for their initiative, encouragement and support throughout the day. Well done to everyone involved!

The Academy will create opportunities that inspire young people to pursue STEMM education and careers. Together with the University, we are building tangible pathways for our region’s next generation of scientists, engineers, mathematicians and medical professionals.

63 very excited Year 10 students are on their way to the Snowy Mountains, ready for an unforgettable few days of fun, adventure and, of course, hitting the slopes!

Safe travels everyone - have an amazing time and make some brilliant memories!

A huge congratulations to the students who represented Callaghan College Wallsend Campus at the Girls AFL competition. Throughout the campaign, our students demonstrated an outstanding attitude, excellent sportsmanship and a genuine willingness to have a go. They showed resilience, supported one another and represented our school with pride both on and off the field.

What stood out most was their winning attitude - giving their best, encouraging their teammates and never being afraid to take on a challenge.

Congratulations to all girls on a fantastic campaign. You should be incredibly proud of the way you represented Callaghan College Wallsend Campus. Well done!

Last week, our Year 10 Girls on the Move Elective Class students organised and ran a Year 7 City Zone Girls Multi-Sport Gala Day, with students from HSPA, Newcastle High, Callaghan Waratah, Lambton High and Callaghan Wallsend.

The event formed part of the students’ assessment for their Event Management unit. Working together in class, they brainstormed ideas, planned the event and allocated roles to ensure everything ran smoothly on the day.

The Year 7 girls were kept busy competing in touch football, netball, vortex endzone, soccer and volleyball, before finishing with a fun Team vs Team Amazing Race featuring seven challenges.

Congratulations to Lambton High School, who took out the event in a thrilling finish, with just one point separating first and second place.

A huge well done to all of our Year 10 Girls on the Move students for planning and running such a successful event and creating a great opportunity for Year 7 girls to get active, compete and have fun.
