Good Afternoon St Patrick's Families,

Thank you to our students, families and staff who attended our first St Patrick's Sunday Mass today. We were so pleased to see so many of you, and loved seeing you all help in the mass with reading and singing. The parishioners loved the opportunity to get to know our families as well. We can hardly wait for our next one in Term 4! Thank you to Mrs Pilley and any other staff who helped organise as well.✝️

Please see the attached infographic and Term Planner for what is happening this week and beyond. Of special note:

🌿 Feast of the Assumption 🌿

This morning, our school community gathered together to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a special day in the Catholic Church when we honour Mary and celebrate our belief that, at the end of her earthly life, she was taken up into Heaven. Mary’s faith, trust and love for God continue to be a beautiful example for us all.

Our Year 5 students led us beautifully in prayer and celebration, sharing their readings with confidence and singing so reverently. Their beautiful artworks of Mary, created using watercolours and paper mosaics, added a very special touch to our celebration. 💙

A particularly special moment came during our final song, Alive and Breathing, as the whole school joined together in words and actions. The church was filled with voices and joy, and you could truly feel the spirit of our school community coming together in faith. 🙏

A big thank you to our Year 5 students for leading such a beautiful liturgy, and to Mrs Hogan, Mrs O’Sullivan, Mr Harborne and Mrs Pilley for their organisation, preparation and support in making this celebration so meaningful for our school community. 💙

Good Afternoon St Patrick's Families,

This week we will hear our finalists for public speaking at the school finals (Wednesday and Friday). We are so proud of the efforts across the school in an activity that can be very daunting. We look forward to hearing them and cheering these students on as they progress to the next level.🎉PLEASE NOTE: These times have been updated.

Please find attached this week's infographic and Term 3 Planner.

If you have any questions or concerns about these or any other events coming up, we would love to hear from you! Feel free to reach out to your child's class teacher, or to our school office.

Today, we welcomed three City of Newcastle lifeguards to our school to celebrate 60 years of water safety education.

Students learned how to identify a lifeguard in a beach or pool setting, important water safety messages, sun-smart strategies, rescue techniques, dangerous beach creatures and open-water safety.

Our Year 3–6 students also received an introduction to rips, surf conditions, ordinance signs and the importance of resuscitation.

This learning is particularly timely as we approach the warmer months and provides students with valuable knowledge and practical strategies to help them stay safe around water. It also aligns with the PDHPE syllabus, supporting our students to develop important skills for lifelong health and safety.

A huge thanks to our St Patrick’s school community who have donated so generously to our St Vincent De Paul Winter Appeal this year! It really blows us away. Michael and John from our local branch are very grateful and can see the difference it will make. I also want to personally thank our hard working and enthusiastic Mini-Vinnies crew. They really demonstrate mission and justice in action. Well don St Pat’s!!

Good Afternoon St Patrick's Families,

Firstly, we would like to say a big THANK YOU to our beautiful community for the support last week in the form of donations to the Vinnies Winter Appeal. Our stage was covered in food and other items that are greatly needed by families in our community. We are always both awed and grateful for the generosity of our St Patrick's families. As we learned in our Friday liturgy, Mary MacKillop used to say, "Never see a need without doing something about it." We thank you for filling that need!

Please find attached this week's infographic and term planner. I will just quickly draw your attention to next week's 💁‍♀️Public Speaking Finals💁 - you will be contacted if your child is speaking next week and are warmly invited to attend the school finals. Also, we have added our first ✝️St Patrick's School Mass✝️ to Sunday 23rd August (start of Week 6). Thanks to those families who have already volunteered to take special part in our first Sunday mass as a school!

If you have any questions about anything coming up, please reach out to your child's class teacher or our school office. We are happy to help!

Have a wonderful week. ☘️
