Stage 3 First Nations Students went to Lithgow High School today to participate in the 50 Years of Deadly celebrations organised by Centacare. Students participated in a variety of indigenous games, face painting, crafts and sporting activities, had a BBQ lunch and finished the day with a tug of war competition. Thank you to Mrs Davidson and Mrs Sheehan for your organisation and to the staff at the high school for hosting us. The students had a lovely time.

CWA Fiji Research Presentations

Today, we welcomed the ladies from the Wallerawang-Lidsdale CWA Branch to our school to hear our Stage 3 students share their research on this year’s CWA Country of Study – Fiji.

Students from 5/6 Gold, 5/6 Purple and 5/6 Red worked collaboratively in small groups to research a range of topics. Some topics shared included Fiji’s history, population, economy, tourism, geology, flora and fauna, and climate change. Students did a fantastic job presenting their findings and confidently sharing their knowledge with our visitors and peers.

A big thank you to Sue Holt, Kay Adams, Linda Lingard and Mariam McCrossin for joining us and for providing a delicious morning tea and refreshments for the students. We would also like to sincerely thank the Wallerawang-Lidsdale CWA Branch for their generous $100 donation to our school library, which will be used to purchase new books for our students.

We greatly appreciate the ongoing support and generosity of our local CWA Branch.

Well done, Stage 3, on your research, teamwork and fantastic presentations!

1/2 White have been busy learning and having fun!
🎨 Creative Arts: We created beautiful artworks inspired by Piet Mondrian, experimenting with tints and shades of primary and secondary colours to fill our spaces.
🔢 Mathematics: We built our very own place value castles and have been learning to tell the time, focusing on half past and quarter-hour times. 🕐
🌦️ English & science: We used our knowledge of weather from our science lessons and our English mentor text Mallee Sky to write acrostic poems about droughts and storms.
🌏 HSIE: We have been learning about significant sites and exploring Dreaming stories that explain how these important places were formed.
🏃 Sport: We had lots of fun developing our skills through overarm and underarm catching activities!

🏫Kindergarten Orientation 🏫
Yesterday was a wonderful day at our Kindergarten Orientation. We welcomed our newest little learners for two fun-filled sessions. The children enjoyed reading 'Where is the Green Sheep?' before embarking on an exciting school tour to find our sleepy school mascot, Wangaroo. The children were also happy to share this special experience with Bec from Pied Piper Preschool who came along as a familiar face, we always value this partnership.

It was also lovely to welcome our parents and caregivers into our school community. They had the chance to meet with our Principal, Mrs Lamborn, during informative sessions to learn all about Kindergarten. Our students also shared what they love about Wallerawang PS and the wonderful opportunities they have.

We’re so excited to have so many Kinder families join our school community!

Congratulations to Braxton Woolsey, who was selected to represent the Western Soccer Team at the NSW State Soccer Championships from Monday 31st August to Thursday 3rd September at Nelson Bay.

Brax had an amazing week competing against some of the best young soccer players from across the state. He particularly enjoyed the opportunity to play alongside friends he had represented with previously, making the experience even more enjoyable.

Congratulations, Brax, on such an amazing achievement! Making the Western team and competing at the State level is a fantastic accomplishment. We are proud of you and the way you represented Wallerawang Public School.

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers.

A huge thank you to our wonderful P&C volunteers!

We would like to say a very special thank you to Virginia Smith, Nicola Ray, Amy Tang, Megan Hamilton, Jay Cameron and Brooke Taylor for generously volunteering their time today to run our P&C Father’s Day Stall.

Thanks to their time and effort, all of our students had the opportunity to choose and purchase a special gift for a dad, grandfather, carer or another important male in their life.

We are incredibly lucky to have such a dedicated Wallerawang/Lidsdale P&C, who continue to provide our students and school community with thoughtful and meaningful opportunities like this.

Thank you for everything you do to make these special moments possible!

Happy Father’s Day for Sunday to all the wonderful dads and special men in our students’ lives! 💙
