📚✨ BOOK WEEK 2026
A SYMPHONY OF STORIES! ✨📚

What a symphony of stories it was at Walkerston State School today! 🎶📖

Led by our wonderful librarian, Mrs Mackay, our Book Week Parade saw storybook characters leap from the pages and come alive across our school. From much-loved classics to new favourites, the creativity, excitement and joy of reading were on full display.

A huge thank you to our families for the incredible effort that went into costumes and for helping make Book Week such a special celebration for our students. Your support brings so much magic to these school moments. 💙❤️

And a very special thank you to Mrs Mackay for leading our Book Week celebrations and continuing to inspire a love of books, stories and reading across WSS.

🌞Week 2 of Prep 2027 Transition Session 🌞

Wow! We are already discovering that we have some very clever mathematicians coming to Walkerston in 2027.
Our Pre Prep Students were thoroughly engaged with our Buzzing Bee Counting Fists activity and very quickly completed our Stem to Carrots maths activity. We are loving seeing their confidence, curiosity and mathematical thinking grow!

Outside, there was plenty of fun had. Our students loved exploring the wet kitchen, enjoyed painting, balancing on the rope and, of course, having fun in the sandpit.

A huge thank you to Miss Kulmar, our parents and our kindy teachers for helping make these transition visits so positive and successful.

It’s only Week 2, but our students are already settling into what school will look, feel and sound like. We can’t wait to see what the coming weeks bring!

💜 BULLYING NO WAY: EVERYONE BELONGS 💜

At Walkerston State School, our values of Kindness, Safety and being a Learner guide the way we treat one another every day.

During Bullying No Way Week last week, we were reminded that kindness is more than just a word. It is something we choose, show and practise through our words and actions.

Our message to every student is simple: You belong here. Others belong here too. Choose kindness. Speak up. Include others.

By working together as students, staff and families, we can continue to build a school where every child feels safe, connected and valued.

📚Reminder - Book Week Parade is on tomorrow Wednesday 26th August @ 9am on the Basketball Court. Students who are wearing a costume will need to change into their normal school uniform following the parade📚
