The ANZAC Day long weekend is here. Looks like we’re in for some very pleasant autumn weather mixed with some lovely colours throughout the town…so bring your camera. The train is running at 11am, 1pm and 3pm, the mine tours are at 12noon, 1;30pm and 3pm. The Walhalla Goldfields Railway is running their “pop-up” cafe again and the Walhalla Lodge Hotel, The Wally Pub is open for lunches and dinner (bookings advised > NOTE the pub will be CLOSED on Saturday night due to staff shortages). The Walhalla Ghost Tours are on tonight for a spooky experience and there are still one or two rooms left at Walhalla's Star Hotel (note there is a two night minimum stay) for those that want to stay the weekend.

The Walhalla ANZAC Day Dawn service starts at 6am sharp…and be early as there is limited parking due to road repairs…so you will need to park some distance away and walk. More details tomorrow.

If you are in Walhalla this weekend, the Walhalla Museum is running a sausage sizzle, cold drinks and coffee are available.

Walhalla Goldfields Railway is running a pop up Cafe and the Walhalla Board of Management has a pop up shop at the Mechanic's.

Don't forget to put the Mine tour, train ride, Wally pub and a visit to the Old Post Office on your 'to do' list.

LOTS of volunteers worrying very hard to make sure your visit to Walhalla is a fantastic one.

If you are coming to Walhalla over Easter, please allow extra time to get through town to the Chinese Gardens or the Mine.
The road repairs following the floods last year are causing delays.

Walhalla does not have a lot of food/coffee/beverage offerings available especially over the school/Easter Holidays.

The pub will be very busy. Allow more time if you are trying to fit in lunch and a train ride.

Many of the 'businesses' in town are run by volunteers. Please be patient and kind.

What a fabulous idea.

Ride in the cab for that extra experience. This lucky couple got to travel back to Thomson at the end of the day in the cab and had a wonderful time.

Trains running 11am, 1pm and 3pm today and tomorrow. If you would like to ride in the cab please make arrangements with our office prior to arrival in Walhalla. In the cab you have a clear view of the track, see how we operate the locomotives up close and maybe even get to pull the train whistle!📢 You might ignite your train driver ambitions!

After two unsuccessful submissions for funds to restore the Walhalla Historic School 957 site, a small team of volunteers will make a start by painting the Headmaster's Cottage.

The task to renovate the whole site is impossible without funding assistance. We will keep trying.

When the Walhalla Historic School 957 page was created, the intent was to follow the repair and renovation of the site and put up photos as we went.
Checked the page just now and see that all you lovely people have already found the page and liked it. Thank you.
Unfortunately, not a lot has happened as yet. We are waiting on the result of a funding submission (plus the COVID restrictions lifting), and then there should be some good news and some good pics. Cross your fingers everyone. We need this wonderful asset opened.

Closed for over 10 years, today we had 80 bike riders use the School as a changeover point.
