Big Build, Small House!

Our Certificate II in Construction students have put their skills to the test, building this fantastic cubby house as part of their practical training!

From measuring and cutting to assembling and finishing, students gained hands-on experience while working together to bring the project to life.

A huge shout-out to the class for their hard work, teamwork and craftsmanship. The finished result looks amazing - and we think there are a few future tradies in the making!

🪟 Learning the Trade: Glazing Skills in Action! 🪟

Our Certificate II in Construction students have been getting a clear view of the glazing trade, learning how to measure, cut and fit glass into window frames as part of their practical training.

With a focus on safety, precision and teamwork, students have been building valuable hands-on skills while taking on a new challenge.

It’s great to see our future tradies expanding their toolbox of skills and gaining real-world experience along the way. Well done, everyone!

Thank you to GBC Building & Hardware for donating the glass to complete this project.

Sally is building a rewarding future in community services — and you can too.

After deciding it was time for a career change, Sally discovered her passion for support work. Over the past three years, she has built a meaningful career as a support worker and is now studying at TAFE NSW to further develop her crisis-support skills and strengthen her ability to advocate for others.

If you're looking to make a difference in your community, the Certificate II in Community Services (CHC22015) can help you build the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to support people experiencing challenges in areas such as housing, mental health, disability, multicultural services, financial wellbeing, youth services, and domestic and family violence.

Eligible students can now access free training in the Certificate II in Community Services (CHC22015) funded under the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program at TAFE NSW - Walgett. Be quick — classes commence from 10 August.

🚧 From the Classroom to the Concrete!🚧

Our Certificate II in Construction students have been rolling up their sleeves and getting their hands dirty, recently completing a brand-new concrete pathway as part of their practical training.

From setting out and building formwork to mixing, pouring and finishing the concrete, students tackled every step of the process like true tradies in the making.

There's nothing quite like seeing hard work transformed into something that will be used for years to come. Projects like this give students real industry experience, build confidence, and develop the skills employers are looking for.

A huge congratulations to the class for their teamwork, dedication and fantastic result. The finished pathway looks great and is a testament to the effort they've put in throughout the course! 👏

💙 From the gym floor to changing lives in community services

Darryl’s journey hasn’t followed a traditional path, and that’s what makes it so powerful. 👏🏽 💪🏽

Starting out as a concreter, then a personal trainer and boxing coach, Darryl built his career on connecting with people and supporting their wellbeing. This lead him into community work and, ultimately, the classroom.

Today, Darryl is a Community Services teacher at TAFE NSW. His work goes beyond one campus, teaching students virtually across multiple locations in Western NSW, including TAFE NSW - Walgett, helping expand access to education and support. ✨

Alongside teaching, he continues his work as a mental health, drug and alcohol clinician, bringing real-world experience into every lesson.

“Qualifications can create real opportunities. Not just for employment, but to genuinely support people and strengthen communities.”

Through initiatives like the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program*, eligible students can access free training and gain the skills to support others in their own communities. 🌏
