Wahroonga Preparatory School

COMMUNITY // We were delighted to welcome grandparents and visitors to Wahroonga Prep for our Grandparents’ Day Chapel service and open classrooms, including Kindergarten’s Monet-inspired painting lesson. Students proudly shared their learning, poetry and school experiences with the special people in their lives.

The day was further enriched by the Glee Book Fair, fostering a love of reading while bringing our community together. We were also pleased to support Lifeline through a fundraising initiative featuring artworks by a member of our school community.

Thank you to all who joined us and helped make Grandparents’ Day such a memorable celebration.

ATHLETICS // Years 2-6 students enjoyed a fantastic day at the Athletics Carnival, filled with energy, participation and House spirit. Proudly dressed in their House colours, they cheered on their friends, celebrated achievements and embraced every event with enthusiasm.

LITERATURE // Thank you, to all the parents and grandparents, who supported our recent Glee Book Fair. This event not only provided the joy of discovering new books but also contributed valuable resources that will benefit our students and library. Together, we are helping to inspire a lifelong love of reading and learning.

FAITH // Head of Wahroonga Preparatory School, Julie Wiseman and Knox Reverend Dr Rosalie Clarke MacLarty recently presented at the International Boys’ Schools Coalition Conference in Johannesburg. The conference brought together educators from around the world, providing an opportunity to share how Christian identity shapes life and learning at Knox.

TERM 3 // A new term brings fresh opportunities to learn, grow and discover. Our Wahroonga Preparatory School students returned to campus this morning ready to embrace new experiences, develop their strengths and make the most of the opportunities ahead.

TERM BREAK // Wishing our Wahroonga Prep community a safe and enjoyable term break. We look forward to seeing everyone in Term 3.

LANGUAGES // In our Pre‑Kindergarten French lessons, students have been delighting in the discovery of facial features while building their early vocabulary. Drawing inspiration from Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, the students explored this iconic artwork as part of their intercultural learning. With great enthusiasm, they identified and labelled the eyes, nose and mouth, before creating their own interpretations and practising the French words aloud with their teacher.

MUSIC // On Tuesday 10 June, our Strings Recital provided a delightful showcase of our youngest musicians and their growing confidence and musicianship.

Students from Years 1 and 2 took to the stage with great enthusiasm, demonstrating the wonderful progress they have made in their early String studies. It was a joy to see their focus, posture and coordination, as well as their ability to perform together as an ensemble.

MUSICAL // Thank you to everyone who joined us last night for the Years 3-6 musical production of Matilda Jr.! The Wenkart Theatre was filled with laughter as the students brought Roald Dahl’s characters vividly to life for our community. From Matilda’s quiet resilience, wild imagination and unwavering courage to the outrageous and unforgettable antics of Miss Trunchbull, the performance made for a thoroughly entertaining evening.

MUSICAL // Join us this Wednesday 3 June for Matilda Jr., our Years 3-6 production! This joyous and witty musical is based on Roald Dahl’s novel; the story of a young girl with a brilliant mind, an abundant imagination… and special powers.
